Disc brake significant grooves - performance only?

I think you're right. I had to have all 4 sets (pads and rotors) replaced today to get through the MOT at 103k miles on my M3P. I asked for the old ones back - and got the LHS set, which is very, very telling. In effect the pads were only having a real effect on about 30% of the disc in one case...

Just got it today… Also 28.2. Then it went away… Fingers crossed it’s just a software issue.

    Sudden Loss of connectivity

Yeh - MrsD was out in Heracles and comms was lost (according to TeslaFi) at 15:18 and regained at 16:55.

What is Teslafi and why should I want it?

As per the above. And if you don't have your phone with you at work - like me - it's useful to be able to check charging, etc. via a browser on a PC

M3P owners using summer tyres in Winter

I've been ok at about 40psi cold. Same for the summer rubber, too.

M3P owners using summer tyres in Winter

I started the winter on the stock 20" summer rubber on my M3P+. Then it started sliding around the place a bit - my commute is country roads, I should add. So I got some 18" rims from Gavin Wallace (mentioned above, I believe) and put CrossClimate+ rubber on them. Yes, I could have coped on the...

TeslaFi and other AWS and GCP clients currently blocked access to Tesla API

Indeed: "TeslaFi services were interrupted on September 10th for approximately 12 hours due to an issue with Tesla's servers. A temporary solution has been put in place until the issue is resolved." Phew!

TeslaFi and other AWS and GCP clients currently blocked access to Tesla API

Given my degradation currently looks like this, that was my first thought, too!

TeslaFi and other AWS and GCP clients currently blocked access to Tesla API

Yeh, it went down about 1524hrs BST this afternoon... Still down at the time of writing.

    13kg Gas bottle in boot

Yes, it does fit. Best way to stop it rolling around is to wedge it in with a 15kg gas bottle. Well, that's what worked for me today anyway! :D

Model 3 Performance "space-saver" kit now available

I did query this with them and was told: "The jack with the weight of the car grips onto the puck almost moulding itself into it , so providing its is jacked up in the centre and on even ground there should be no problem." I'll give it a go at the weekend and see. Otherwise the best approach is...

Model 3 Performance "space-saver" kit now available

Folks, (One for those who realise that cans of goop and tyre plugs don't get you out of every tyre/wheel damage situation!) I just thought I should let the M3P owners know that a space-saver wheel/jack/etc. kit - similar to the one already available for the SR+ and LR but which doesn't fit the...

Nah. I've done 12,000 miles for about £400 in an M2P+ driving like an idiot... That's about 3p a mile.

Yours is very different to both of mine, then! If you try plugging one end into the other, what happens?

How big is the screen wash bottle on a model 3?

Mine did the first time - when the factory fluid was low after about 5000 miles. Since then it's just run out of fluid without telling me. Anyone else getting that? I'm wondering if the washer fluid level sensor has died?

18" Aero vs 20" Performance: Ride Quality, comfort, noise etc

As many have done, I've moved from my summer tyres on the original M3P+ 20" rims to CrossClimate+ tyres on a set of 18" rims. Slightly more comfortable, slight quieter, still fun. But the original rims were fine for ride and noise anyway.

Ionity, LOL. 67p/kWh from 1st Feb

Ionity have simply declared that they're really only interested in supporting their own brands. But by making their chargers "accessible" to e.g. Tesla they can claim to be open, and therefore get government assistance. Tesla don't get that assistance because they're not "open to all". Whether...

Tesla car battery to power my house

^^^ This !!! Tesla car batteries are not optimised for V2G. You'll ruin your battery for limited benefit. The right answer is Powerwall or similar.

Tesla All Weather Protection Kit [mudflaps/ppf] - Anyone in the UK Been Contacted?

Mine certainly gets a lot of muck on the rear - while the sides can still be clean. Whether that's worse than a non-P M3 I don't know! LR/SR+ owners, how dirty does your rear end get?

    ABRP - how to use

I tried this tonight and it totally failed as it consistently thought I was in Coperhagen rather than Bristol. No good for tracking my progress on the trip! What did I miss?

Does anyone in Cheltenham have a Model 3 jackpad I could borrow tomorrow morning?

The pad/puck is useful for getting the jack on the right spot, but it can also be done with a rubber pad/wooden block on the jack and a bit of care. The puck is not essential. But I have a set of pucks by Evesham if you want to borrow?

Just echoing the above. Your fortitude is remarkable and inspiring, sir! Hats off to you and your incredibly-positive attitude.

    Brake lights at traffic lights

Sorry, but not true. If you stop and then get rammed into the car in front of you, the driver behind you takes the full financial hit. If you hit the car in front, and immediately get rear-ended because you stopped so suddenly, you take the hit for both.

Fans / Air-conditioning Going Hyper after Supercharging

Errrr… the banging is from heat expansion in the battery cells, NOT charging gases venting off! I think you're confusing Tesla's Li-ion batteries with the old lead-acid ones.
  29. T

    Wish List

When washing, can't you unlock the car using the key card? I think that then leaves it unlocked, unlike the "oh you walked away with the phone" locking.

Type 2 Mennekes cable pin blown!

If you get the cable replaced and they leave the old one with you, it's about £60 to fit a new plug. I did it to my old long Type2-to-Type1 cable to make it Type 2 at both ends for my M3.

    Two rear-ends in two weeks

Jealousy has been a feature of the human condition for millennia... It's often more-pronounced in those who don't do so well - which generally means they can't afford a Tesla. Sorry if that sounds a bit elitist and insensitive, but it's just fact!

    Battery falling off a cliff...

Range on a full charge. So a steady degradation since collection. But if it's just the effect of temperature and not the battery having some issue, I can live with that - the range is fine for what I use it for, I just don't want to end up with an issue after 100k miles and 4 years!

    Battery falling off a cliff...

Thank you - if that's the norm for winter, then cool. Just seemed a bit shocking!

    Battery falling off a cliff...

So... My M3P+ is 3 months old in a week's time, 6500 miles on the clock now, only a very few supercharger visits, and only taken it to 100% a few times immediately before a long trip. It's charged back to 90% most nights. The battery report in TeslaFi looks like this: So I've got 3% loss in...

Damn UK Potholes, just cracked 21inch rim...

They can change the rules all they like! If there is a pothole and they know about it - e.g. it's clearly been there some time - then they're liable for the damage. End of! You might have to keep pressing them - in which case I suggest telling them that them deliberately wasting your time will...

    Car reports incorrect amperage

If you're on a 3-phase charger Teslafi often reports it as a single-phase-32A charger. The PodPoint ones at Sainsbury's in Filton that I regularly use do it. You can set a location in Teslafi and tell it that it's 3-phase in order to then get the right numbers. An MS or MX will use 32A on each...

Autopilot and the B word (brexit)

Tesla could be a bit cute and programme the cars to follow UK rules in the UK, and EU rules in the EU. The question is whether HMG will relax the rules from the EU level to the US level. There are a couple of things that point to them possibly doing this: the stated drive on tech innovation...

    Sentry mode to the rescue.

I don't hold people who ding then drive off in much regard - if I were you I'd make sure to bill them for the repair, the cost of tracking them down (DVLA lookups cost money), the cost of contacting them, the cost of taking it to the garage (45p/mile, remember!) and the cost of your time. If...

Help - Maximum ac charge rate on M3

Likely you have a high local voltage with near-zero voltage drop, and perhaps momentarily it hit 33A (mine does occasionally) - if you can draw 33A at, say, 247V you'd get that sort of number.

Anyone fitted a charge port light?

How much light leaks into there? Could you just paint around the socket with luminous paint? Then aim the plug for the ghostly socket...?

Get paid to charge your Tesla....

Ditto. When I had a PHEV consuming 9kWh/night, and ran the dishwasher/washing machine/tumble dried in the E7 period, too, our consumption was 50/50 E7 night/day. When we took a year out from E7 and just ran devices as and when we were ready to it was 10/90 night/day. Now we have an M3 we're...

Driver side door mirrors - limited external view?

The Ranger cleaned some crap out from behind it and got a little bit more movement. But the essential problem remains. It is as designed! Credit to the Ranger for excellent service, though. He's clearly an enthusiast. Mind you, his company car is a P90D with Ludicrous so who wouldn't be?!

Public charging provision in a village

The key here is WHY the council would want to do that. If it's to attract visitors, with the economic benefits of that, then multiple 7kW chargers is way more sensible than a single rapid 50+kW one. The latter would be used for the equivalent of a "wee stop" whereas the former would incentivise...

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

Yeh, ditto on that one. Had it a few times a few weeks ago, but not since. My take from the behaviour was that it was a bug - let's all watch it, but at the same time I think it's a fair presumption that the bug has been fixed now, and rolled out in one of the recent updates.
