Yep, it's no hassle to defer. You can tell your SA about it. If you do nothing, they might text you with a matched car for delivery. Instead of saying 'YES' you can just say 'defer' and then they will call you to confirm.

Feel free to order now, and just say you want to defer when they match you early. They might ask something like "are you sure, because of demand you might get a vehicle near end of quarter" but that's about it. Pretty easy. If price goes down, I believe you get the lowest price. If price goes...

Just got the same text a minute ago. This is ridiculous. I've been in queue since the end of September. I also delayed visiting my parents across the country due to my SA insisting I was getting a delivery (driving instead of flying, and I'm the only one visiting them, thanks to dangers of COVID).

Not really; VINs are allocated in a somewhat unknown way and assigned to a nearly-built car at some point. You'll have to ask your SA to be sure if you want to find out if it was rejected or whatnot. The build date itself is a more prominent indicator.

I last deferred on Sept 26 and currently don't have a date either. MYP white ext, black int, Tow, FSD. Originally was in mid august but deferred due to QC.

If anyone is looking to compare against MINIs... My R56 Cooper S is much more harsh (smaller vehicle AND made to be incredibly stiff), and the 2020 Countryman JCW still seemed more harsh than the Model Y Performance with 21" Uberturbines.
