P85 19" wheel width and max tire width?

FLYVMO, thanks, your links are very informative. Looks like I know what I'll be asking for Christmas =) Assuming I get wider wheels, what's the widest tire I can fit in the wheel well without hitting the control arm or rubbing?

P85 19" wheel width and max tire width?

Just did a little research. I currently have Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires. I like them and want to stick to them. Hankook's website shows available tire sizes I'm interested in for my rears: 255/45/19 (what I currently have) 265/35/19 (side walls too thin and small / rougher ride / more...

P85 19" wheel width and max tire width?

Anyone know how wide the wheels are on a 2013 P85 19" stock wheel? What is the widest tire I can install for the rears? I currently have 255/45 tires which fit, but I'm considering putting some 265/45 tires on the rear for better traction. Still getting some slip with max acceleration from full...

    Are Pilot Sport 3's directional?

Can't find this on google or on our forums, but are the Michelin Pilot Sport 3's unidirectional? I want to know if I can cross rotate them, or only front to back. Thanks

    Coil springs vs air suspension

If anything, I find the coils still on the slightly soft side. Would be nice if they can be slightly stiffer. Car still rolls too much when cornering a tight turn at high speeds......

    Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Bump. So it's been a month since I had the PS3's installed. They are still awesome. Couple things I've noticed. Definitely better than the Primacy touring tires. Much better traction, but still get the squeak when I put the pedal to the metal. However hugs the road tightly. However have seen a...

    Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Good to hear another view point Hiroshi. I just installed the PS3s so that's just my initial impression. Also, I'm comparing them to all season MXM4s, so perception wise, they are a lot better. However, my brother has Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2s on his ride, which I drive from time to time. So...

    Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Also, the MXM4s were decently quiet when they were new, but transmitted road noise a bit more during the 2nd half of tread wear. The new PS3s are definitely more quiet than the MXM4s when new. We'll have to see how they sound after I wear them down a bit.

    Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Wore the original MXM4s down to the wear bar just shy of 28k miles. Thanks to this thread, installed a set of Pilot Sport 3s. WOW! Just Wow! What a difference. When I used to bank a freeway exchange curve at 75-80 mph, my rear would fish tail a bit & I would hear an occasional squeak as the...

    Cross Rotating Michelin MXM4 19"

Interesting how this thread developed. Thanks for the Michelin link on tire rotation. I initially posed the question, not because of tire noise, but I wanted to maximize the life of my tires & also maintain equal performance by even wear. From what's posted here, I'm probably going to go with...

    Cross Rotating Michelin MXM4 19"

So is the final verdict that as long as I don't mind the noise, it is safe to throw in cross rotations for our 19" MXM4's?

    Cross Rotating Michelin MXM4 19"

Been searching on the forums, but haven't really come across any definitive answer in my search. On inspection of my 19" MXM4's I don't see any arrows to indicate the tires are directional, or the words "outside only" to indicate the tires are asymmetrical. If that's the case, I don't see why...

Does the service center patch tires?

Great information, good to know. I thought as much. I'll probably end up taking down the tire myself and haul it over to American Tire Depot to get it patched. Luckily, it was a slow leak, so I did not need to emergently plug it.

    75% Insurance Increase

I can see Tesla wanting to keep tight control of repairs involving the drive train or the tech stuff in the car via certified repair shops. However I don't see why they wouldn't lax up on their rules for body work since it's only cosmetic. It seems like a lot of the gouging is from the body...

    Ranger service using car lift

I don't have a lift, nor did I ask a SC; however from a liability stand point and our litigious culture, my guess is the answer is no even if you owned a lift. What happens if your lift fails and crushes the ranger? Does your home / liability insurance cover use of your equipment by a...

    Always unlock at location feature

Nope, I'm with you on this as well. No matter how secure my home garage is, I always want my Tesla locked. Can't predict someone breaking into the garage, why make it that much easier for them to access the car? Also, when I'm working in the yard, & have the garage door open, going in & out of...

    Scratched Door Trim

try this: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotchprint-Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl/dp/B0058DIDTY I'm gonna let mine accumulate more scratches for a few years & then just wrap the interior with something like carbon fiber or some other pattern. Cheaper than replacing the panals.

Almost ICE'd at Burlington, NC Supercharger - 7 of 8 Stalls Blocked

If we think this is bad, just wait until all the Model X & Gen III Teslas are on the road. And now that Tesla is sharing it's patents, if other EVs are able to supercharge, it will be next to impossible competing for non ICD'd charging spots with all the other EVs.

Has anyone received the replacement NEMA 14-50 adapter?

Received my replacement adapter last week, though mine has a rattle when I shake it. Does anyone else have that? If not, I'm gonna take mine back to Tesla for an exchange.

    Random Model S sightings

A beautiful red MS, tan interior, with 21" rims parked next to my blue MS yesterday at a Kaiser Anaheim. Belong to anyone on this board? Wonder if it's a co-worker or patient's. Didn't take a pic cuz it was at night at the end of my shift, and my camera phone sucks. Edit: The red MS looks...

Unusual energy graph after I left my car at Discount Tire overnight

maybe someone can do a test: say if you were detailing the inside of your car or just chillin' enjoying a beautiful day, open all your doors, have the heat / ac pumping, & music flowing for 1-2 hours, then see what the energy graph looks like. I wish I had time to do it, but I work too much =P

Unusual energy graph after I left my car at Discount Tire overnight

Does writing down the odometer reading not work for the Tesla? I always make it a point to write down the odometer reading in front of whoever is servicing my vehicles so they know I'm keeping track. That doesn't prevent them from gunning the car for a short distance, but it does deter them from...

    Cloth or Leather seats

Had my MS for a few months now, and have cloth seats. They are wonderful. I had leather on my previous car, & didn't like all the work needed to maintain it. Also, my leather was tan so after 10 yrs, it just looks very worn & dirty as it gets darker. On the occasions when I drive aggresively...

Jack Point contact for Bottle Jack

lol...just an expression ..... er is it? all kidding aside, yes, just front to back for directionals. My p85 came with Michelin Primac(ies) which are directional. Are the Good Year Eagles also directional? Or can we do cross rotations too to increase tire tread life even more? Yeah, I have a...

Jack Point contact for Bottle Jack

Absolutely, you'll probably beat me to it as I've only just ordered the breaker bar & mini ramps today. Still deciding on the bottle jack. Will probably go with a 20 ton. It's rediculous how much Tesla charges for tire rotations. It's just tire merry-go-round for pete's sake haha. I sooo...

Jack Point contact for Bottle Jack

It makes sense, since it is the jack point, the manufacture would expect one to use it to hold up the car's weight. They would logically not leave the recessed area bare & would use steel instead of soft aluminum in that area. Edit: @scaesare: same here. If the bottle jack works well, I will...

Jack Point contact for Bottle Jack

Thanks, I use a hockey puck with my low profile floor jack at home. Bottle jack is for trips in case I get a flat for a quick change or plug. I called Tesla, said it's OK to use bottle jack in recessed hole. Said it's reinforced steel behind jack point, not aluminum. Said a lot of rangers use...
  40. R

Jack Point contact for Bottle Jack

Got it, so probably the aluminum is stamped with the recessed hole. I agree, probably the full weight should not completely rest on that small diameter. Hopefully the lip of the bottle jack also makes contact with the rest of the jack pad so the weight is distributed between the recessed area &...

Jack Point contact for Bottle Jack

If I use a bottle jack that has a round contact point that fits into the recessed hole on the jack point, is there metal behind the hole that can hold the weight of the car? Or is the recessed hole purely for placement purposes so the weight of the car must be supported by the surrounding 2"X3"...

Outstanding PPF Installation by Ultimate Shield in Orange County !

I paid the industry standard price in Orange County so the price was fair, but it really depends on what you get, what level of detail you'd like put into the process (eg edges, emblems), and any custom request (matte finish, hatch, etc...) I didn't ask, but I'm assuming one day for pain...

    Alliant Credit Union

The loan is good for 30 days, so either apply for it within 30 days of taking delivery, but I would probably just do it within 1-2 weeks of delivery. Also, as soon as they cut you a check, the interest starts accruing. So you don't want to get the check too early before the delivery date. - - -...
