Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

That’s the reason I didn’t go for it but more so length than width. The software issues would have driven me nuts. I’ve blindly opted for the Porsche Macan Turbo. It’s a reasonable length and Porsche have learnt from the Taycan. I get the sense that the Macan is more hot-hatch than SUV, though...

Who is buying a LHD Refresh M S/X?

Agreed. It isn’t a hatch, doesn’t have air suspension customisations plus all the other bits, but in its favour it is lighter and more nimble, but for me personally it is shorter and therefore fits in the garage! Something I hadn’t properly considered when I ordered the Plaid. We’ll soon see...

Who is buying a LHD Refresh M S/X?

I expect any prospective buyers will have second thoughts once the new M3P is announced. Not exactly the same class of product, but if the performance is in roughly the same ball park then they may indeed shed the remaining stock at 60K!

    Charge on Solar UK

I have a 3rd gen Tesla Wall Connector. True on the export rates but I’ve been somewhat lazy to set up, though I should do it! Still, they advertise the capability so keen to know if anyone has got it to work.

    Charge on Solar UK

It appears that Tesla now supports Charge on Solar in the UK. I have the prerequisite app version, Powerwall and vehicle firmware but I don’t see the option to enable the function in the app. I’ve re-installed the app and solar and battery export are supported in my installation. Has anyone...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I’m in the same boat. Looking to arrange a test drive. Also waiting on the new model 3 performance. Different cars though I am intrigued about handling. I read it handles like a well sorted sports car, similar to the Taycan, impressive if true. I’m also curious to see how often Lotus update...

I see a design flaw. Several car parks I’ve visited have capacitive touch buttons to retrieve a ticket. Have the boffins at Tesla thought of that I wonder?

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Their stock is all over the place. New cars appear, all cars disappear then reappear. All very weird. I expect demand was much lower than they were hoping. The fact that nobody on this site, a fan site, dedicated to Tesla, have admitted to buying a LHD tells you something. Don’t be surprised...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I do find it amazing that Tesla fanboy sites get excited about Tesla including RGB interior lights in the refresh model 3 and probably S/X to coincide with the model 3 refresh launch. RGB lights are clearly an amazing, technologically difficult-to-implement feature worthy of all that excitement! 😆

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Yep, got the email. They are set to issue me the order refund but I have until December 31st to buy at the original price (3-4k discount off the current price). They also said “We will not be producing right-hand drive Model S or Model X”, so a lot more strongly worded than ”not be available in...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Market cap wise I think they are the biggest car company yet they are unwilling to bring 2 out 4 models to RHD markets. Most other OEM‘s create multiple models, some niche, some not so niche but most are available in RHD form. That may indicate that Tesla mostly care about the longer term...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Some people clearly don’t have a basic grasp of supply and demand economics. I reckon the seller had some success selling PS5 consoles at inflated prices on Ebay and thought they could do the same with the Plaid! :D

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

My compare point is on a different, much lower performance level, a Golf R and Model Y, so entirely different cars. Coming from a Raven performance I expect you may be less impressed!

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

On the deposit, I still have my old RHD reservation at the lower price (the first price before the increase). I told Tesla to hold on refunding my deposit. That way if I decide to go for it, I benefit from a 4/5k discount on the quoted price.
  16. A

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I agree. No way would they offer the LHD if they had future plans to reintroduce the Model S in RHD form. Look at roadster reservations. They’ve not refunded them and are still taking deposits and that car is still years away, so Tesla have no issues in hoarding deposits for cars that they plan...

It had incredible acceleration. Tesla set the limiter to 80-ish MPH which I ‘accidentally’ hit in zero time (it felt like that, just remember feeling the wheels spinning throughout). For the money, nothing beats it. It is a beast!

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I test drove a Plaid against my better judgment. I regret doing so! The car was awesome from power, interior quality (not sure why people bash it so much), comfort/noise but on the noise front I was expecting more road noise suppression, interior space and that massive boot. It also looked...

Who is buying a LHD Refresh M S/X?

So 20-odd replies but no confirmed purchases? Not that I’m surprised, mind you. I’ve been tempted myself but I keep reminding myself .. “no, it’s LHD, LHD, LHD!” .. “think about the insurance costs, parts availability!”. As a side, I see that the Plaid’s are out of stock. They went from 5 in...

Who is buying a LHD Refresh M S/X?

In the seminar last week at the start of the presentation they repeated Tesla’s mission of sustainability, etc, which came across a bit odd given the reason we joined the call. In retrospect they may have meant “we are not a car company, and we built the MS to prove a point” and “mission...

Surprisingly a few have gone from inventory (checking the Plaid specifically) so some people are clearly desperate enough!

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I don’t buy the mechanical argument. They designed the platform from the start to accommodate RHD configurations. Engineering teams develop complex models and validate configurations through simulation prior to the manufacture of prototypes and engineering samples. ROI economics killed the RHD...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I’ve not driven a Turbo S and neither a Model S but we do have a Model Y and I genuinely like the tech e.g. autopilot, speed of UI, phone app control, and even handling. Most things work well, parking the windscreen wipers! It appears that the 2024 Taycan is set to improve upon a bunch of...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Only a fraction of those who ordered a RHD will bite on the LHD offer is my guess. As they approach the quarter they’ll drop prices. LHD for RHD markets should be inherently cheaper and Tesla know that but they will try it on first. It does make me wonder if the refreshed Model 3 performance...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Gutted but expected. Highly probable I’ll go for the Taycan though there is a facelift coming soon so I’ll wait. LHD isn’t worth what they are asking. Overtaking is a pain. Besides, the price is higher than my invoice price.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Here is me hoping that they listen to Tom Ford’s comments (Top Gear) and standardise on carbon ceramics and Arachnids for the UK market. Highly improbable but we’d benefit on B-roads as the weight and mad power of the Plaid would cook standard brakes in no time!

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Tesla it appears have started marketing the Plaid. At the recent Plaid track day event they invited some YouTubers and conventional motoring journos. For example, Top Gear were invited and they posted the video below. I was keen to see a UK motoring press review as I’m tired of the drag strip...

Not sure if anyone has seen this .. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/electric-fleet/electric-car-and-van-data/tesla/model-s-1405 According to them the Plaid is expected August 2023 in the UK. It could be pure speculation on their part but then again it may have come from Tesla directly, given that...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I’m tempted to switch to the 21” Arachnids and go for the carbon ceramic brake kit if I’m given the option to change my spec closer to delivery. I’ll only do so if it doesn’t impact the original base price for the car (pre-£10k increase), though worst case I’ll order after they deliver the car...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I don’t understand why Freemont built vehicles are so random in terms of build quality, especially given that the S/X are meant to be their premium offering. Poorly paid and treated workers may have something to do with it. I agree we’d benefit from Chinese built S/X but shifting production...

Another random guess could be that the Oz order situation may be down to allocated quotas for that region, e.g. they allocated X number for 2024 (guessing 2024 for delivery) and the current number of orders have exceeded their allocated quota, which may have been small to start with. Who knows...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

My thoughts exactly. I know it is a better drive, better fit and finish, and I’ve come close to ordering a Turbo S a few times but I love my wife‘s Model Y, the software, the simplicity of the interior (BMW, etc, try very hard to bling-up their interiors and I hate it, too much clutter), the...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

The market for +100k Euro EV‘s is relatively limited. Tesla have some tough competition with the likes of Porsche, Audi, BMW and Mercedes, and the prices of those OEM vehicles in the EU I think are probably lower than in the US (I think, though I’ve not checked). Spec wise, other than the flat...

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I hope they don’t cancel the RHD variant! Their strategy appears to be to add small incremental changes here and there to maintain press coverage and I think Tesla treat the MS/MX and Cybertruck as pseudo marketing platforms. Release of the MS/MX in the UK should help Model Y and 3 sales, but...

Model S/X Refresh UK Waiting Room

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Ever since they announced the yoke I thought that it would wear at lot more than a standard wheel primarily due to more concentrated touch points, e.g. less surface area to rest hands than a traditional wheel resulting in increased abrasion, at least that was my theory :). Is the material any...

Nothing for me. Ordered over a year ago. I doubt cars are being matched. We’ve not heard of any RHD mules in the US and you normally see photos of RHD vehicles before they are launched. I also think 2024 is fishy, but you never know with Tesla. I just hope they are fixing all the known...

I opted for the Tesla Wall Connector. It looks stylish and has different coloured face plates to match the home style (or car colour). The mounting post looks smart with it.
