    Model 3 220Wh/mile vs P85 299Wh/mile on same 50 mlie trip

Good point. The P85 was in front, with the Model 3 two cars behind in the car pool lane. However, I don't think there was any significant difference in the distance between the car in front of the Model 3 and the car in front of the P85. It was just routine (busy) highway driving.

    Model 3 220Wh/mile vs P85 299Wh/mile on same 50 mlie trip

There was some stop and go on the 405, but I guess that the average speed was ~55-60mph. Note that stop and go traffic is a detriment to energy usage, so if this was a major factor the energy usage on my P85 would be much higher than 299Wh/mile. To me, the critical issue is the massive...

    Model 3 220Wh/mile vs P85 299Wh/mile on same 50 mlie trip

That is interesting. A more efficient motor would help explain the significant improvement. The question is, how much better will the range will be with dual motor in Model 3?

    Model 3 220Wh/mile vs P85 299Wh/mile on same 50 mlie trip

Just picked up our Model 3 (Vin 22XX) at MDR today (I love it) and compared the energy usage on the way back home (~50 mile trip on the 405). WOW, what a difference in energy usage. The model 3 used 220Wh/mile while my 2013 P85 used 299Wh/mile. Both are rear wheel drive only. The Model 3 had...

I think this is why we are up today: "China EV Sales Up Nearly 300%, May Lift Tesla, Kandi In the first 10 months of this year, sales of electric vehicles in China jumped 290% to 171,145, and the country could overtake the U.S. as the world's top EV market, potentially good news for Tesla...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2015

I think TSLA held up relatively well today compared to other growth stocks: TSLA down 2.7% MBLY down 3.27% NFLX down 4.84% AMZN down 3.49% FB down 3.77%
  12. M

    SolarCity (SCTY)

This must be why SCTY was up 3% while TSLA, AMZN, AAPL, NFLX were down 3-4% on macro issues today.

I would add that this is a very bullish piece of data for Tesla meeting 2016 guidance. They have only sold 951 cars in Denmark through October, but they expect up to an additional 2,500 sales for the remainder of the quarter. WOW:love:

Is this story part of the reason why TSLA tanked going in to the close. Appears to be completely false, so if it contributed we should correct upwards tomorrow (assuming macro does not tank again). Really, the Danish Tax Minister should apologize for making such unfounded allegations. Is Tesla...

You are comparing apples and oranges. The base Model S is $70K, a fully loaded Model S is $144.5K. The latter is over twice the price of the base model. A base Model 3 will be $35K; a fully loaded Model 3 will likely be twice this price, or ~$60-70K. You can get a base Model 3 for $35K, but...

    Q3 2015 Report & Conference Call

There is one significant advantage that Tesla has over UBER that does not require autonomous driving: fueling cost. At 1/4 the fueling cost to an ICE (and even less with solar), Tesla would easily be able to undercut UBERs pricing. That is why the CEO of UBER previously said he would buy as many...

Not sure about that, the only quote from Bonnie I could find regarding her Model X today was that she still did not have a delivery data, but is 'expecting' a mid-novemebr delivery. See post 66 in Signature delivery now mid/late January - Page 7

I am not sure that it is that simple. The cars arrive without battery or drive-train installed; these are installed in Tilburg, followed by final assembly and testing. This must save some time at Fremont and thereby boost weekly production rate in Fremont. Moreover, the key metric is...

More click bait: "Why Tesla Stock is Finally Dying". Plus given the fact that Elon tweeted that a couple of suppliers for the Model X will determine the speed of the Model X ramp, either these suppliers come through or Model S demand will need to be robust enough to meet ~15-16K deliveries in the quarter. Possible but far from a given.

Why is Ludicrous retro-fit not available for P85?

Thanks for the input. In JB Straubel's blog about Dual Motor he states that "The shaft horsepower rating of the rear wheel drive single motor Model S is straightforward and roughly 360-470 hp depending on the variant (60, 85 or P85). Also, it is generally similar, but not the same, as the...

Why is Ludicrous retro-fit not available for P85?

I apologize if this topic has been addressed previously, but I would really like to know why Tesla is not offering the Ludicrous upgrade to P85 owners. It is either not technically possible or Tesla has chosen to not include the original P85 owners. While I am far from knowledgeable in this...

How important is it for you that the 2nd row seats of the Model X are stowable?

But folding second row seats was the idea from the beginning and shown at the reveal in 2012.
