Head on Crash on Lake shore drive in Chicago

Saw a very brief story on the news about a deadly head in crash on Lake Shore Drive on Sunday. In the video b role, one of the cars appeared to be a Model 3 that was involved. Curious if anyone had heard any details. I googled and found nothing. Cheers.

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

Got no problem with the shifter on the dash (basically). Reminds me of my old man's Corvair with push button gear shift on the dash. Turn signal will take some adjustments. Certainly not a game changer for me.

Rear fog light review / install tips

Agreed. We used to call them "driving lights." Both my old Subaru and Audi had them and on my motorcycles, I have installed signals that are also brake and driving lights. Personally, the more lights the better.

Model 3 Feature Requests for Refreshed model 3

"Spy photos" have been around for decades. When there were maybe three reputable car enthusiast publications, they were fun to see in all their grainy Sasquatch glory. I still enjoy seeing them... and then moving on. Unfortunately, the WWW is ripe for this silliness. (I really like the new front...

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

I've rented a Tesla from Hertz multiple times... it is essentially the same: no phone functionality, etc. As for a manual, they do send you links that cover the basics prior to picking up the car... more than what they offer for other ICE cars. Five minutes perusing the user interface and you...

    My 1964 Corvair Monza EV

I grew up in the back of my parents Covair. Multiple cross country trips. It purred. I know the engine was right behind me. One of the best looking cars ever. My old man absolutely loved it but with a growing family he settle for and International Harvester TravelAll. OG SUV!

Model Y 2023: What is your solution for Roof Rack and Roof Cargo Box?

You old farts, remember those "turtle boxes" back in the day. I had one on a 1st gen Honda Accord?😂. Back in the day I had a box (before tule and Yakima) made by the folks who made Butterfly sailboats which were competition of Sunfish and Sailfish. It was basically two hulls attached with a...

Sub Par Service Experience @ Tesla Renton (Seattle)

I know I'm preaching to the choir here but is not a good time to get a vehicle worked on. Any vehicle. Took my neighbor 11 weeks to get her Subaru hood repaired/replaced. A hood. That said, your experience was unacceptable.

What is public perception of owning a Tesla after Musk's tweet?

I think Elon's antics are extremely polarizing where I live and work (NorthShore, Chicagoland). Many of the folks I interact with socially are educated, liberal and affluent. And I know a number who did not renew their Tesla leases because of Elon. I would love to own a Tesla someday but I may...

Sudden price drop past couple months?

According to Mannheim (auto auction), used car prices are down something like 15% last month. The largest drop ever. That said, the used car market is still was high (30%?) since pre-pandemic. Personally, market is still too rich for my blood.

Austin built MY LR quick review

Yes, Hertz is renting MY and M3 (I think). I'm renting a MY from them next weekend from a suburban Chicago Hertz. Never been in one, so I'll post my thoughts here next week.

Getting complaints about using public level 2 charger

I spent some time in that part of the world as a young man. What's the general vibe re wind towers. I hope people are accepting. I often drive through a large wind farm in Central Illinois. Intriguing and a little mysterious.

It's not. BMW has been around long enough to realize that there customers are willing to overpay for a "brake flush every year. Absolute bull.

Why does Tesla suspension suck so bad?

Not going to lie, all this suspension talk is a pipe dream for those of us in the Midwest. Not much to challenge any suspension. All I know is that it is totally subjective... and if you upgrade, go with the folks who have the research behind them. This forum has been a wealth of knowledge. For...

Why does Tesla suspension suck so bad?

Just drove a 2022 MY performance for the first time around Chicagoland. I found the suspension very accommodating. Seriously, it drives very similar to my 1982 Volvo 242 GLT two door with aftermarket Tokico shocks. High, heavy and tight.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range AWD to be priced at $59,990 USD

Joking! I've lived in the Midwest my entire life admiring the steam billowing from nuclear power plants and my old man supported his family in part representing central Illinois strip mining companies.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range AWD to be priced at $59,990 USD

Somebody here must remember when the second generation (I think) Honda Accord came out. People (including myself) went nuts. At least in the Midwest, there was nothing. Dealers were asking for non refundable deposits which was unheard of. It's going to be a rough ride for a few years. Hold on.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range AWD to be priced at $59,990 USD

Yup. Here in Illinois we got cheap, easily accessible coal. Pick your poison. 🤪(personally, I'll take coal over earl.)

Why does Tesla suspension suck so bad?

As a small child, one of my jobs was to crawl around the back of our family's International Travelall (the first suv along with the Suburban) tracking down creeks that dove my old man crazy. Needless to say, there were a lot back in 1968.

100 percent Kuat. Regardless, put those bikes in trays. If you're driving this car, my guess is your bike is worth it.
