Vendor Tesla Model S Battery Extended Service Plans from 057 Technology

Anyone know where I can find more information about this definitely-not-a-warranty? Oh, nevermind, I just found the website: warranty.057tech.com In all seriousness, best of luck to everyone still here.

Sunroof Vents when Opening the Door

It is some kind of power-on-from-sleep bug - and opening a door is a trigger for the car to wake up. So the sunroof will only open if the car was locked and had been inactive for some time (and the steering wheel scroll button is configured to control the sunroof). This bug was the final straw...

    Sunroof opens by itself

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/sunroof-vents-when-opening-the-door.267447/ This has been a bug for about a year now. Tesla told me to wait for the software update - and in the meantime, program the steering wheel controls to an unused function (the bug activates the steering wheel...

Sunroof Vents when Opening the Door

Reprogramming the scroll wheel buttons to control anything but the sunroof was the workaround that Tesla gave me. Tesla service had my car for a month for this issue. Like OP, on my car they replaced several parts before root causing the issue to a software bug related to wake-up-from-sleep...

Squeaking from cabin heater, dependent on power output

Yes, eventually it got so bad that it was happening almost all the time. It was the HVAC blower motor. Good luck!

Clicking sound coming from climate system fan

Update from my end. My chirping got so bad that it was constant at low fan speed. Super irritating, but at least impossible to ignore now. Tesla replaced the blower motor (under CPO warranty) and all is well now!

Vendor Tesla Model S Battery Extended Service Plans from 057 Technology

Many thanks for bringing this service plan option to market. The worst case from the customer standpoint is, of course, buying a service plan for 4 years and not needing it. What would you guess the probability of battery pack failure is in years 8-9 and 10-11? 60 packs are more prone to...

    2014 Model S P85D

Still have it, still enjoying it! Now 57,000 miles. My new car is still on order - it won't be here until spring 2022. The accident does show on carfax. I sent you a PM.

Clicking sound coming from climate system fan

I had two extended drives over the past few days in cooler weather (40’s). I did not get the chirping with recirculation set to fresh air. Thinking of this thread, I tried recirculation and then I reliably got the chirping. Perhaps any dependence on recirculation mode is only due to input air...

Clicking sound coming from climate system fan

Nice work! I studied this diagnostic screen earlier today and came to the same conclusion you did: there is no way for the system to transfer heat from the battery/drive unit into the cabin HVAC. Tesla Thermal Management System - explanation I'll have to read up on the Theory of Operations...

Clicking sound coming from climate system fan

That's disappointing, but very much appreciate the update. What was the ambient temperature outside when you tried turning recirc on/off? I wonder if recirc is affecting the frequency and volume of the noise solely because recirc on/off is affecting the temperature of the input air to the air...

Clicking sound coming from climate system fan

I have the same noise on my 2014 P85D, occurring under nearly the same conditions. I have had it on and off for at least 2 years but only recently noticed the conditions under which it occurs. I have various other rattles and squeaks which I can deal with.. but this high pitched chirping is...

Squeaking from cabin heater, dependent on power output

I have a high pitched squeaking, almost like a chirp. It is not constant - it's like a bird chirping away. From the driver's seat, it sounds like it's coming from the the right front of the car. Car is a P85D. I've tried recording the sound but my phone doesn't pick up the high frequency...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

You may be oversimplifying also? The manufacturer expected the "lead to fire" condition to be so rare that it would not exist in the population. They have the ability to poll and test to learn the actual size of the affected population - but they didn't bother and went straight to releasing an...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Actually, I think this is relatively straightforward for Tesla. First, release software that searches for condition Z and then reports the result home. Once you have sampled the population size of affected vehicles, then you release new software to take action upon those vehicles as...

After low ball offers by Carmax and Tesla, sold it myself - Huge Difference!

Thanks for sharing. Perhaps the remarketing department is being extra conservative because they are afraid of getting canned by Elon while he is reviewing every 10th expense!

So all model S are 100D now

On the other hand, if there is a steady supply of slightly out of spec modules or packs, Tesla could sell those in the new standard range Model S. This could be cheaper than reworking or scrapping the modules/packs that don’t pass muster. This is total speculation on my part. It will be...

So all model S are 100D now

Tesla.com does not give any indication that the battery is software limited. It also does not advertise a cost to remove the software lock after delivery, as it does for EAP. Is there any evidence that the battery is actually software limited? I know the Electrek article indicates the battery...

I think my car is lying to me...

Thanks to all the contributors to this thread. Interesting findings. Regarding battery discharge inefficiency: Does the degree of inefficiency vary? For example, depending on rate of discharge or perhaps the temperature of the cells during discharge. On the face of it, it seems a bit lame to...

    Hidden CPO Costs: stories

I received mine shortly after the CPO program ended. It was missing metal spring clips on the nosecone. The nosecone fell off in a car wash shortly after delivery, getting scratched up in the process. I asked Tesla for help - wouldn’t intact body panels be a part of the 70 point mechanical...

Surviving on a regular 110v trickle charging

Some of the 19% energy loss is surely due to losses to heat in the battery cells. It would be quite interesting to see how efficiency scales at higher charging rates. I have been charging on 120V for the past few months, with a 25 mile round trip work commute and sporadic non-commute use...

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

I agree that the magnitude of blunder is rather amateurish. Perhaps something quite significant was blinding the decision maker(s). For example, demand for P3D cratering after the Q3 push. In the rush to patch that hole...

    US Bank end of Lease

The curb rash was fairly light. But it was over 3.5" long, which seem to be what they're looking for. I've attached an example. My experience with US Bank for this lease termination has not been positive either. It has been nearly 3 months since I returned the car, and I'm still trying to...

Does Tesla make money on Supercharging?

Who is responsible for tracking how many Tesla’s enter the facility? I imagine it is easier for Tesla to track this. If a Tesla enters the facility but does not plug in, does Tesla still get their $2.50 cut?

    US Bank end of Lease

Without a pre-return inspection, I'm sure a post-return inspection would still be done!
  34. C

    US Bank end of Lease

Contracted residual was $56.5k. Car was listed for around $62k and made it down to around $52k before being delisted. So after accounting for the $7500 tax credit, there was a few thousand dollars in margin - but Tesla also had to extend the warranty coverage and market the car.

    US Bank end of Lease

I went through a US Bank lease return earlier this year. Feedback from my experience: You need to request the pre-return inspection yourself (no one will call you to schedule it). US Bank contracted out this work out to AutoVIN. When I requested my inspection, the first available inspection...

Returning a Lease Car with Accident Damage

My lessor was US Bank. I was in a similar situation towards lease end and inquired what would happen if repairs extended past lease end. They said that if I could not return the car by lease end, the lease would be extended and I would be on the hook for additional monthly lease payments. The...

Accident history for VIN 080687 (used car on Tesla.com)

Right, with any luck, prospective buyers will note the insurance claims, find the details here, and then rest assured - modulo diminished value. And be wary of the drive unit noise. I have heard multiple reports that Tesla would not CPO a car with any insurance claim history. Given the change...

Accident history for VIN 080687 (used car on Tesla.com)

In case this helps anyone... Model S VIN 080687 was my leased car that has been lease returned. It is now for sale as a used car on Tesla.com. It's a 2015 Model S 85 in red. It had (at least) two insurance claims in the past, so I was a little surprised when I saw it pop up for sale on...

2017 Supercharger Plan: New Chicago city location?

Suppose Tesla owners get a 1 hour allowance to utilize the superchargers. How does the garage know if a given Tesla actually charged? If the garage does not confirm that a given Tesla actually charged, then Tesla drivers enjoy subsidized parking in the garage - $20 off each parking session.

2017 Supercharger Plan: New Chicago city location?

The Aqua garage is actually fairly unique in that it will directly serve 2 large residential buildings. Aqua and the recently announced Lot O development will share this garage). Together they will encompass 3 hotels, 2 apartment complexes, and 1 condo. Approximately 1000 hotel rooms, 1000...

    [SURVEY] Model 3 Delivery Window

I reserved online on 3/31. I was an owner and still am today (same car). My delivery window is December 2017 - February 2018. Doesn't bother me as I won't be ready for the 3 until at least summer 2018, but I find it a bit curious. I'm in Illinois - perhaps that was the difference maker.

Someone please confirm... winter tires w/o TPMS ok?

2017 Supercharger Plan: New Chicago city location?

    Battery Warranty not unlimited miles?

The mileage limits on the battery pack correspond to only ~400-500 full cycles - from that perspective, the mileage limit on the battery warranty for the 3 is rather disappointing. What's more telling to me is that the motor is only guaranteed for 4 years / 50k miles. Sounds like the million...

2017 Supercharger Plan: New Chicago city location?

Here's the posted fee structure at the entrance to the Aqua garage. Yes, it's currently $20 for the first hour. Or $15 if you can adhere to the constraints for the "early morning special". There has been some installation progress lately - I saw some wiring being chased through the conduit...

2017 Supercharger Plan: New Chicago city location?

Interesting. The plans call for cabinet x to be connected to stalls xA and xB, where x is 1 through 5. But stalls 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A are designated "enabled" while 3B, 4A, 4B, 5A, and 5B are "dedicated" - which means even if only the Tesla-only stalls are used, 4 of the 5 will be shared...
