Jay Leno video on the Semi

It looks like a good video on the Tesla Semi by Jay Leno: Some interesting tidbits: the guy said the GVW was 60-70k when they hooked up a trailer with another Tesla Semi on it. So, if the trailer is ~12k, the Semi weighs ~24-29k. While the rotors are carbon wrapped like the Plaid, the...

    Transitioning from Twitter.com to X.com

With the transition from Twitter.com to X.com, the TMC forum software currently only auto-expands twitter.com links. How easy would it be to make it handle x.com links as well? Here is an example of a link to a Twitter.com link: And here is the same Tweet but with a X.com link...

Tesla has released a new Universal Wall Connector: https://shop.tesla.com/product/universal-wall-connector It costs $595, and starts shipping in October. It has an integrated J1772 adapter, essentially MagicDock for AC charging. It lists an interesting feature: Does that mean you don't have...

    First Public Megacharger Installation

It appears that the first publiclly accessible Megacharger will be in Baker, CA and is mostly done: Weird that it appears that it will be for a Tesla Semi without a trailer... (Do they have a spot to drop a trailer on-site?) Another interesting thing is that it appears to only have a single...

    Charging standards and bickering thereabout

CCS1 and CCS2 are electrically identical. I'm not sure why you think something to do with a non-CCS compatible Model X has anything to do with that. Just like the CCS1 to NACS adapter is passive, the CCS2 to Tesla Type 2 adapter is passive. But for an older EU spec Tesla to be able to use that...

    Wireless Charging by WiTricity

I saw an event by WiTricity today, here are some notes: They claim it only costs "a little bit more" than a corded solution, with the extra cost because you have to get the receiver installed on your vehicle. They are working to make the received installation an option that some OEMs will allow...

Another fire at an Electrify America station

Another Rivian that appears to have had a problem when charging at EA: It looks like what is left of the plug on the charge cable is still sticking out of the port. I think we have seen at least two of each either have a fire or have the cabled welded to the charge port: Rivians, Bolts...

Information on Pepsi and their Tesla Semi purchases

Some good information in this article: Exclusive: PepsiCo to roll out 100 Tesla Semis in 2023, exec says Here are some tidbits: Their chargers are 750kW, it takes ~40 minutes, and would re-charge no more than 500kWh for that 425 mile trip. (i.e. less than 1.2kWh/mile for that trip with a...

Too much interference? Maybe one of the reasons Tesla is trying to abandon radar?

Maybe the proliferation of Teslas, and other vehicles with radar, is one of the reasons Tesla is trying to abandon radar? https://cleantechnica.com/2021/05/09/av-radar-dont-cross-the-streams/ Similar interference can happen with LIDAR as well, but generally will be less of a problem.
