    Birmingham Delivery

You really shouldn't need to point out minor issues to them though. I regard the delivery experience of my S a couple of years ago to be the worst of any car I've owned. It's a shame that Tesla still seem to leave customer service as their lowest priory.

What New Owners need to Know - UK FAQ

Picking up on one of your points: USB sticks fail for various reasons, but if it's being written to frequently then it's likely because the NAND has already worn out - I had one die after only 6 months of frequent writes. The cheaper the USB stick, the cheaper the NAND will be, and the fewer...

    Model S future pricing

That's pretty much how I felt for the first few weeks/month - I remember needing to apologise to passengers regularly as I kept coming out of the throttle too much and causing the car to slow suddenly. Now it feels like second nature and web the weather is cooler and the regen significantly...

    Windscreen replacement...

My auto lights were stuck on for about a week after the windscreen was replaced, even the service centre thought they were broken but then they just started working properly again one day all by themselves! I don't use the auto wipers though as they were useless every time I tried them.

    Windscreen replacement...

This seems to be a common occurrence, though it sounds like they checked before taking the old glass out at least, which sadly wasn't the case for me... then they had to put the original, now even more smashed glass back in

All 2019 Updates delayed by Tesla intentionally?

I'm going to call BS on that. Long story short, my car had Autopilot but shouldn't have, it took them a long time to turn it off but it was done remotely (after they'd originally said SC visit required) and didn't require an update, it was just gone one morning.

Model 3 coming soon to the UK?

In the follow-up tweet to the one I linked above, Elon said: Those improvements are independent of Supercharger V3 power increase from 135kW to 250+kW. All factors considered, charge time will drop by factor of 4 best case & more than 2 for whole Tesla fleet. Effectively, this more than doubles...

Model 3 coming soon to the UK?

Given that Elon has also said that the power share is being removed from V2 superchargers, sharing stalls shouldn't be an issue going forward...

    V9 and spotify

I've only been able to log in to mine once in the just month, the rest of the time it just spins a while and then says can't connect. Between this, the yellow-bordered MCU, creaking front struts, and the sticking driver's-side door handle I am starting to wonder whether I'd get a better...

    Ramblings/advice sought?

Wouldn't the residuals for the car be needed in order for a third party to offer PCP (since Tesla don't offer finance directly)?
  12. MagicMagicD

    Ramblings/advice sought?

How many miles would a typical holiday trip be and what sort of places? The reason I ask is that there are some viable non-Tesla options that are worth consideration, some are considerably cheaper too, but range is normally the limiting factor.

    screen discoloration

Any old 17" touchscreen maybe, but it has to be an automotive grade one with a particular pixel density, otherwise MCU 1 cars won't have enough power to run it... I'm willing to bet the are very few suppliers.

    V9 in the UK - 2018.42.2

Whilst the 360° view in the instrument cluster has apparently improved considerably since the initial versions of v9 that went out in the US, it definitely still needs improvement... The truck ahead and to the right in the IC was actually directly in front and filling my entire view in...

    V9 in the UK - 2018.42.2

Media does seem to be a particular weak point for the Tesla's. Despite reports of both Spotify (here) and Slacker (US) bring buggy nothing seems to get fixed. Not to mention all the requests for Apple Carplay / Android Auto integration. Hell, at this point I'd be happy if they just let me see...

2018.42.3 - charge current off by 1 amp?

Support ticket with some screenshots, I'd suggest especially if you have one from your charger so it's obvious that it isn't a glitch in the number reported.

    V9 in the UK - 2018.42.2

I don't have EAP so can't comment on that but I'd agree that the MCU is definitely quicker, the obvious one for me is Pin to Drive, which used to be a bit laggy for me but it's now butter smooth. The Dashcam needs AP2.5 hardware, so anyone with 'just' AP2.0 hardware is out of luck at this...

    V9 in the UK - 2018.42.2

My only complaint on v9 is the size of 'my' car in the instrument cluster - it's now so small that I can barely see when my brake lights are on (under regen).

    buying used direct from Tesla

Hi Mike, I bought new so can't answer your query directly, but I do feel I can pass comment on the standards, which could be better, based on my hand over - there were lots of marks that I had to point out, although none were serious and all were fixed by their detailer. Still, I felt I...

    Early peek at V9

They've renamed it to Navigate on Autopilot and removed the automatic lane changes so that you have to use the indicators to initiate the change of lane. With that said, it's only available in North America at this time so the v9 you will get will be sans that feature until its been validated...

Free 14 day autopilot trial query

They've dropped prices in the past, much to the annoyance of existing owners and not just on optional extras, I seem to recall they dropped the upgrade price for 60KWh -> 75KWh battery quite significantly. I'm not sure they could honestly increase the price at this point though, even the new...

An introduction and a few questions...

Servicing is often a mandatory stipulation of you're buying the car on finance. I don't have the premium pack on my car add can't say I miss it. I've never been particularly fussy about in car audio so the only thing I worried about was the lack of heated wipers. As it stands it's a non-issue...

90kw max when super charging ?

Someone did a decent job of building some technical documentation here, though I have no idea how up to date it is. Sorry, I see it's already linked from the API thread!
  32. MagicMagicD

90kw max when super charging ?

Giving out just the access token would technically be safer, though you'd need to use the Tesla API 'directly', which is fairly technical. 90kw max when super charging ?

You electricity supply is giving out 235v, which is higher than the 'standard' 230v that the charger ratings are done on, so you're actually getting 235x32=7520, which is why it's showing as 8kw on the car

There's no way unfortunately, you have to install it to see the change notes, which normally amount to 'small improvements and fixes' anyway.

Free 14 day autopilot trial query

I did temporarily have AP when I first got my MS and did use both Auto Steer and TACC a bit. For my commute I found both to be a bit unpredictable, which did put me off using them more often. I agree that TACC should be offered FOC though: it's a £500 option on an £18k Ford Focus, and I think...

Free 14 day autopilot trial query

I honestly don't understand why they don't offer a PAYG version for those who don't use it enough to justify the £5k outlay but would use it occasionally - surely some money is better than none and they can clearly turn it on and off remotely so it can't be that difficult to actually implement.

Free 14 day autopilot trial query

From what I've read on the main Model S forum, it's now or never. I did the 'no thank you' option, it then asks you if you're sure first before rebooting everything. Oh and it now tells me every time I turn the car on that my trial has expired... thanks for that Tesla.

Another Guardian article - issues charging a Tesla across the UK..

Granted the car they had made it a pointless test, but if they'd taken a first gen Leaf or even something like an eGolf, but in cooler conditions it would have been a perfectly valid test. It makes apparent how hit-and-miss public charging can be. I think we sometimes forget how lucky we are...

    Green Energy UK anyone?

I moved to Bulb earlier this year after our fixed deal expired. I did consider Tide, but by my calculations (using a monitor that records usage throughout the day) we wouldn't have been any better off since our cooker is electric and is always on at 'high tide'. Also, keep in mind that both...

Considering a Model S - am I mad in my situation?

My extended test drive, albeit only for half a day, was in a P100D, so you may not get a 75D! I don't need to regularly do longer journeys, just for holiday purposes so a 75D covered my needs. My experience of it is that at this time of year, I can easily get 280wh/mi (being good), which...

    The most basic charging question

Normally you will need to unlock the charge port, either within the charging menu in-car, on by pressing and holding down the back of the key. Not sure if PodPoint chargers do anything different though as I remember they said they wanted their chargers to be super easy to use. I've never had...
