I hope they sue, and Tesla shows us (and to the court) that they have a better plan B in place, and shut up both SHW and the SeekingAlpha FUDers

They wont sue. My guess is there is extensive communication regarding product complaints and an unwillingness or inability, to meet the agreed upon spec.

What's also of note, at the end of the statement tesla emphasized spoliers... were they caught leaking something?

I'm more convinced than ever that's GM has big problems that haven't been disclosed.

5) I won't be the least bit surprised if GM knew the data it acquired was stolen. If it turns out to be true, I predict GM execs will blame it on one person, insist the company execs had no knowledge of what happened, and either agree to pay a very large sum of cash to Tesla to license the data, or pay an extremely large sum of cash to Tesla, remove the stolen data, and one or a handful of exexs will be "allowed to leave" (fired).

Once Tesla Engineers get their hands on GM's autopilot system, it'll be easy to see if any of their code was used/stolen. My guess is the competitive hit GM would take by not matching Tesla autonomous system would pale in comparison to a few billion in fines it would receive once Tesla confirms GM stole their IP. Like Samsung stealing apple's tech. Once a few billion dollars when without the theft, they'd still be selling flip phones

Elon tweets
"The blanket entry ban on citizens from certain primarily Muslim countries is not the best way to address the country’s challenges"

"Many people negatively affected by this policy are strong supporters of the US. They've done right, not wrong & don't deserve to be rejected."

The tightrope begins

p.s. Is this related to or effecting Tesla or TSLA - Is it politics? -
so difficult to know...o_O

I think we are all worried about some kind of catastrophe. Just now my wife is reading something about North Korea and Trump. I do think we should not count much on Elon's relationship to Trump. Elon won't do something stupid but who knows when Trump will have a tantrum or a twitter frenzy. What I'm interested in is the reaction of the billionaires in the cabinet when they have to face public scrutiny over their actions in a wholly different way along with dealing with Congress and their respective bureaucracies. Tillerson is going to have a management nightmare running the nuts and bolts at state because losing the institutional memory of managers who have resigned their posts en masse. How will the consular officials on the line deal with new directives on visas, for example?

Damned it you do...

Yep, they want to make the products that people want to buy. What?!?!?!?

People want to buy a product that meets their needs.

The automakers have spent the last 3 decades trying to convince lawmakers that people don't want efficient cars by building weirdmobiles with anemic performance, and then pointing to them as evidence that people don't want to buy efficient cars.

Tesla has proven this demonstrably false.

Right!? But then Elon wasn't very strong in his wording when he didn't support Trump's possible election. He's being consistently smart with his words in the political field. Unless Trump comes at one of his company's specifically, I believe Elon will continue to express his thoughts in this manner. Cross the line, though, and threaten one of his company's; game on.

Maybe I missed something, but GM acquired Cruise and Tesla is not suing Cruise for misappropriation of data. So what stolen data did GM acquire?

And yet the legacy autos continue to claim lack of demand for their "weirdmobiles"

I think there may have been a little confusion.
The lawsuit is against Aurora Innovation, founded by Sterling Anderson (data thief!!11!) and Chris Urmson.
The mix up is when Tesla takes a jab at GM for buying only demoware for self driving tech at $1B from small firms such as Otto and Cruise. (This is in the lawsuit - Santa Clara Superior Court - Case Information Portal)

These are not related to the data breach or the lawsuit other than maybe a small insight into what somebody (GM?) might think early stages of Autonomous driving tech is worth? Also motive for Sterling to sell out.

Funny definition of "want to buy" given that the US Big-3 is now the Big-2+ Italian, GM recently went bankrupt and GM + Ford have done nothing but lose share for 40years. Of course they make full size pickups that are basically exempt from safety and pollution rules so "Sucess!!!"

The Washington Post is now claiming the principal three managers were political appointees and thus required to tender resignations at a new administration's inception. But the government is claiming this is an example of Trump's pledge to drain the swamp. Also doesn't quite match the concern expressed by others at the institutional loss because of their vast knowledge and memory of how things work. Must be newspeak.

Reality is just an hallucination that is socially acceptable, but people have different tastes.

Pickup trucks less than GVWR of 8500 lbs. are treated the same as passenger cars and SUVs for both CAFE and air pollution standards. This includes the most popular models like Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado.

Tesla just took a major shot at Uber's purchase of Otto

"In their zeal to play catch-up, traditional automakers have created a get-rich-quick environment. Small teams of programmers with little more than demoware have been bought for as much as a billion dollars. Cruise Automation, a 40-person firm, was purchased by General Motors in July 2016 for nearly $ 1 billion. In August 2016, Uber acquired Otto, another self-driving startup that had been founded only seven months earlier, in a deal worth more than $680 million."

Demoware LOL that sounds so much like Musk, I bet he was very involved writing the text. Can't wait for the conference call and the AP questions from Jonas and Rosner ... Who is the other guy who always tortures Musk with the ZEV-credits?

In case the market was wondering, self driving tech and data in its infancy is worth 9 to 10 figures alone, without implementation or validation.... So has the market priced in AP1 & ap2 now?

And here's what my MX thinks:

There will be interesting market action if this is really new, or just re release from old campaign promises. If so, it would get oil prices to rise, increase us oil extraction--based on higher prices, and make tesla more valuable as well as solar. So much winning...

Let me quote the header of this article ;)

I suffer from leaking brain due to senility. I must have read something like this earlier but got a lot more out of your link. Many thanks. I would have ranked it funny as well.

Along the same lines as what I attributed to Buffet in my post referenced, readers might take a look at a video at Davos which deals with a number off issues and interpretations of the meaning of populism and the threat to global order today.

Christine Lagarde is always brilliant. On at least two occasions during that forum at Davos, Larry Summers displays his reputation as America's brightest economist. It is a rare look at some really superior minds interacting with each other with a great moderator.

Lets focus on the next earnings report and how it will affect the stock price.

She always hyper sun tanned to be credible,
Never mind guilty of corruption in other matters.

A ten year old incident without penalty, monetary or otherwise, and one "matter." Cf NYT:
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/19/business/imf-trial-christine-lagarde-france-verdict.html

Operative conclusion: "'She has been a very effective leader,'” said Edwin M. Truman, a specialist in international finance formerly at the Federal Reserve and the United States Treasury...." snip
“'At bottom, it’s all about French politics,' Mr. Truman said."

I must admit in my sexist way I've always thought her good looking and worried, like you, I suppose, that she might be risking skin cancer. Did you notice that after a significant round of discussion she responded in order to three comments by different participants in a foreign language from memory without notes!? I am prejudiced in favor of smart women, too. Apparently Trump is also, despite his reputation he has chosen women to run his companies in one TV report "because they will work harder due to previous discrimination by society." (Not direct quote, but clear meaning.) So far as I know she hasn't been accused of rape, at least not yet, in contrast to her predecessor. I suppose its a matter of what is important to the observor. What is the French phrase, "à chacun son goût?"
