Picked my M3 LR up from Thorpe Park this morning. Arrived at 8.45, took 5 mins to sort out my trade in then I was off to inspect. Spent about 15-20 mins and the only issue was the inside drivers door trim at the bottom had a few scuffs. Booked an appointment to get it looked at.
Rest of the car was flawless!
Went back to the guys to confirm everything was ok, by the time I got back to my car it had appeared on my phone app. Then got an email to activate the premium connectivity.

So overall a very positive experience. I was a bit worried the night before after reading all the horror stories but I can say it was a great experience.
Now where to drive to next?

Some possibly useful info for those worrying about bank transfers. After a £100 test I sent two lots of £20K then the balance over 3 days, ending on Tuesday.
I got an updated invoice very soon after I sent the £100, but the 3 big ones never appeared on my tesla account. i rang them this afternoon and the guy said it was all fine and I had now paid the full amount.
So if you're worried, ring them up soon after you send money

I also collected our white M3LR yesterday morning from Birmingham.
Process went well, didn't really notice any issues with the car at all.
When I got it home, noticed the frunk lid was low on the passenger side (like sunken abit), but not by much.
So I twiddled the rubber buffer on the underside corner of the frunk lid to make it longer.
Hey presto, looks perfect. lol.

Although I will say the frunk lid feel fairly delicate, not like an ICE bonnet, which you normally slam down (will I do on my nissan narava, else it doesn't shut) Nice reassuring slam down on the navara. Don't try that on an M3.
So be gentle with your frunk lid. (have to say not keen on the american frunk name for it, lol)
Don't think I will use the frunk unless going on holiday, seems very delicate to me. Best left alone I think.

After driving a current gen nissan leaf for nearly 3 years, the M3 feels very low and sports car like. (and powerful).
Love it... enjoy the throttle response on the country roads.

M3 LR MSM delivered today. GB Euro plates. Initial inspection pretty good.

  • Minor boot alignment issue.
  • One headlight didn’t work...but now it is. Roadside Assistance contacted SC. Ranger coming to look tomorrow. Hopefully just a loose connector.

Headlight magically started working yesterday. Ranger couldn’t find a fault. Let’s hope it was just modules talking to the canbus for the first time or something like that. Apparently there are no spares for the new headlights in the UK yet.

Getting closer now, rang LV= to see about changing my insurance over from my 2017 Audi A4 2.0 S-Line auto to the Model 3 LR, said it would cost me an extra £750 (plus excess increases) on top of the £570 I already paid in October for my renewal. I laughed and said I'd be calling on Saturday to have it cancelled as it's twice the amount quoted by Churchill.

Not a great collection experience for me with plenty wrong with the car. Misaligned frunk, driver door and boot (to the point it’s catching on the paint). No mudflaps although in my excitement i forgot to ask for them so perhaps that’s my fault. Scuffs on interior trim and also the window seam coming undone.

LV were same for me, double the cost of my Audi S3, Churchill were cheaper than my original Audi S3 insurance.

When you say: "Couple of items needed fixed", what do you mean by that? What are the things you suggest to check?
- paintwork
- roof scratches
- panels gap
- side camera is working
- headlights

Anything else?

Search this forum for UK checklist. Lots you can check if you want.
I had a slight scuff on one door and a piece of trim loose. Both were fixed while I was there.

Stupid question but how do I test that all cameras are working? When I did my test drive in reverse it was only showing the rear camera not the side camera
With the rear camera view open, swipe up from the bottom of the screen or click the chevron to display the side cameras.

Also, no need to reverse to view the cameras. There's a circular icon under the car visualisation that will activate it at any time.

... or you could use voice control if you're feeling lucky.
