2021 model s long range real world super charging is FAST

Hey friends,

I took my new 2021 refreshed Model S long range with the 19” wheels and the speed was unbelievable. Especially compared to my old 2018 75d.

10% Soc
62F

started charging at a 160kw instantly
Climbed to 250kw by 14%
Stayed at 250kw until 35%
Stay over 150kw until 50%
Stay over 100kw until 68%
Finished my charge to 80% at 70kw

15 minutes added 207 miles
Charged from 10% to 80% took 27 minutes.

The range has been nuts, but being able to charge this fast. I’m including photos if you’d like to dig deeper.

For my planned trip (Austin TX to Santa FE NM) I will need to charge from 40% to 95% at Sweetwater TX SC. Has anybody with a refresh S timed a similar charge? I'm hoping for 30 mins or less.
fyi in my S85 and S85D I could not drive the most direct route and with slow charging the journey is too long for a single day. I'm hoping the new car will make the journey time under 12 hours including stops.

Many thanks for this. I asked the question about supercharging speed a while ago on another thread. Just to clarify, how many miles did you add in the 27 minutes?
shoot, I didn't think to check that because 27minutes is a weird number. I parked with 39 miles of range, it looks like it was just shy of 300 miles. obviously the first 15 minutes is the most impressive.

What a game changer. Not only can we go so much further, but the charging is much faster. Makes road trips finally doable.

My trips to Mammoth were very frustrating: LA --> Mojave (20 minutes)--> Lone Pine (45 minutes), only to arrive in Mammoth with only 50 miles, and massive vampire losses due to cold weather. Must charge upon arrival, which makes for a long, long, long trip.

Now (or when I finally get mine): LA --> Bishop for only 10 minutes, maybe 15, to give myself a couple of days up there without having to run out for a charge. And, zero stops on the way home.

Yes! Mine comes middle of next year, but I go to Mammoth a lot. This will be a big improvement. Right now I either take my Honda Accord with snow tires or my X5M which gets about 10mpg :p

One data point for you (Plaid): 10/03/21, Sweetwater SC, 16 minutes, 46% to 78%, 30.14 kWh added @29 cents/kWh, $8.70, 124.9 miles added. Pottie only, no food, restaurants across the freeway. Spectacular wind generator farms to the south.

I recently did a trip in my LR and had to charge from about 28% to 95%, it took 40 min at a v3 supercharger. For additional context, going from 28% to 80% estimated 25 min until I moved the slider to 95%, so the additional 15% took an additional 15 min. Because charging is so fast on the low end, and you're starting around 40%, my guess for your scenario would be about 35 min.

Thank you. I was hoping it would be around 30 mins, enough time for a break but not tedious. 35 mins will be fine.
