Am I the only one that loves not having a Key Fob?

Yeah, I bought an Apple watch so I didn't always have to carry my phone. Now I have a car that makes me always have to carry my phone (yes, I know I can use the key card. Love having to always have to tap it on the driver's side to unlock).

This was solved with a smart deadbolt lock. Wife was unhappy at first but loves it now.

Why didn't she like it at first? Was she afraid that it might be hackable? That seems to be the only valid concern.

After getting my new iPhone XR, there is absolutely no problems with phone lock. its seemless.

1 week in, not a single glitch with the phone unlock (iPhone X). The whole keyless experience is possibly my favorite thing!

I believe that if the fob was the "standard" and "normal" method of controling the car, and the new shiney update would be using your phone instead, then everyone would be praising it.

Agreed, I love it. I also have an iPhone X, and I keep it in my right front pocket. I've noticed occasionally if I have my left side toward the door it won't always open. But I have two metal hips (only 48yo - lucky me), so I'm guessing that may have something to do with it. As soon as I turn facing the car, it opens.

One of the many things I love of the Model 3 is that I don't have to carry a key fob for it. My cell already goes with me everywhere I go, one less thing in my pockets is almost liberating!

I agree. This whole fob fascination has been completely lost on me. So nice to not have to care it.

The only problem with the phone is that if your battery dies then you are locked out of your car, for example if you are away from home or a place to charge. This means that I now have to carry a card and a phone just in case. Then I thought when I leave my car then I'll just take the card with me and leave the phone but the doors don't lock with the phone left in the car unless I turn off Bluetooth which is a pain to do that all the time.

Unfortunately the fob sucks too. No summon, no passive entry. Very featureless.

Nah, just keep a card in your wallet.

Pixel 2XL didn't work for the first time since picking the car up almost 6 weeks ago. I thought my run of luck had ended, but then realized BT was off. Doh!
