Anyone got a delivery text??

I just got a text last night around 11:57pm EST time and have heard others have got it as well. Wondering if it's legit or not.

"Hello from the Tesla Delivery team. Our logistics team has confirmed a Model 3 matching your order is available this week. Are you available to take delivery between 9/26 - 9/30?"
Yes got text. Confirmed with Tesla. Confirmed delivery now Sunday. No vin yet. They are trying to beat the quarters end Sunday the 30th by pushing out as many as possible.

I called twice, and spoke to a few people... the text is real, and first day they said someone will be reaching out to me from the delivery team. I never received a call from them so I called again this morning... whoever I spoke to didn't seem knowledgeable and said the text was sent by mistake.. a mass text to everyone, and I asked if I can speak to someone else. She connected me to the delivery team. She said it's not a mistake, they had mass production in the Fremont location and the reason I haven't gotten a call is because they are working on everyone's and pushing for it before the 30th. After I mentioned how the first person I spoke to said we can schedule a time, and the VIN can be assigned even an hour before, she made an appointment for tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 11:30am. She said whether or not I have a car matched they will contact me either you walk through the process, or to cancel the appointment and a car was not matched, etc.

I am excited and hoping I get it this weekend, but at the same time disappointed because of how unorganized this process is.

Assume you're paying in cash? Otherwise the idea they could pop a VIN on someone Saturday and expect non-Tesla financing to be in place seems doubtful.

Wow... so basically making appointments, and keeping their fingers crossed there is a an actual matching car , and it is deliverable and will be prepped by then . Sounds like Elon, and why SEC is investigating his tweets lol

I got the same text. no reply after a couple tries and I already had a VIN and appointment.
Really kind of ticked me off because now I was less sure of my state of affairs with them.

About 24 hours later I did get a response saying "thanks for quick response".

Unless a VIN is assigned and appointment shows in your account I'd be skeptically that it COULD fall through.

I already completed the finance part of it - not paying cash, but loan through Tesla and less than 24 hours it was approved. It would suck if they don't have it delivered since it's only valid for 30 days.

The texts and everything.. there's a human behind the screen sending some of them. The person only scheduled the delivery because I mentioned it - I feel none of this all matters unless a VIN is assigned to you.

This.

Just got off phone with Tesla (888)5183752 and the lady basically said the mass texts were just a tool to gauge interest and availability (of buyers), but if no VIN shows in account then no car available yet. My account has updated to point where it has a link to submit down/final payment, but still no MVPA/VIN. The Tesla rep advised waiting for VIN assignment.

Very frustrating, but as I am available this weekend without rearranging things I'll keep playing along.

How would it work in Texas? Aren't we supposed to pay upfront before picking up the car?

So after calling today it did turn out that the text was just a bunch of baloney and they did not in fact have a car that matched my configuration. However this was the first time they connected me to a deliver specialist who said that there should be a car available for next week. So lets see if they fool me again next week, because at that point after waiting 2.5 years I may just quit Tesla.

Same. I called and checked and the CS rep was very apologetic in that many emails were sent by mistake. She looked and confirmed no VIN for me. Yet. Still, I had that smidgeon of hope when I saw the trailer full of Teslas at the weigh station. I'd never seen that before!

I posted this in the Atlanta thread after speaking to someone at the service center who advised that my car was definitely not on site ("No AWDs")

It sounds to me like the service centers don't have any visibility upstream, at least right now. All of the scheduling is done by the "Delivery Team" in Fremont, who presumably know what is on the trucks, and where they are headed.

Based on her response (no AWDs on site) I am guessing that all of the "text message" cars are in transit, that the appointments scheduled are intended to align with the configurations on the truck, and that the VINs will be matched once they get there, probably tonight or tomorrow AM for tomorrow's appts.

This would seem to be the best case scenario, and also means that miscounts or cars damaged in shipment will equate to missed deliveries. It also doesn't leave much time for trade-in evals and financing, but if Carmax can do it in 30 min, I don't see why they can't as well.

-

That said, she mentioned it might be best to push off my appointment. I declined. If the home office is cooking something up, I don't want to interfere with it. Recognizing that the odds of driving a Tesla this weekend seem to be pretty low, I am going along for the ride.

That is my understanding as well. Maybe for this end of quarter push they are playing a little fast and loose?

I received an email from and Inside Delivery Advisor a few hours ago stating my "MVPA will be ready shortly" and he will forward it to me soon. Still no VIN or appointment time/date. This is the first contact I have had with an advisor of any kind - so far it has just been the texts beginning 3 days ago. I had been communicating via text message and now I started replying to the IDA via email.

I am essentially paying cash on delivery since I'm using 3rd party financing and the loan will be deposited to my bank account. I will bring a cashier's check for the full remaining balance at delivery - and luckily I am able to cover the amount even if the loan doesn't fully process until after "delivery". I have been completely open about my intention in all my communications with Tesla.

I assume they realize I'm in Texas. It looks like this may go down as a purchase out of inventory instead of a custom order - maybe that's why the rules seem different. Monday I called the local showroom and asked if they had any performance models in inventory that were unmatched, and they told me they did and I could come by an purchase it immediately if I wanted to. (An additional 15K was too much though so I passed.) Maybe they are treating this the same as that?

I'm totally grasping at straws here, and it could very well be smoke and mirrors at this point.

They seem to be putting a lot of effort into this.. the mass texts have ended up in direct human contact, with specific car configurations being verified. Trying not to get my hopes up, but why would they be going through all of this if there weren't at least some cars looking for homes?
