I used the thinnest gauge wires from Mirrortap MTX-1015. Once I got the wires lined up in the proper spot they went in pretty easy.

Awesome, thanks!I used the thinnest gauge wires from Mirrortap MTX-1015. Once I got the wires lined up in the proper spot they went in pretty easy.
1. The detector does automatically shutoff with the carAwesome, thanks!
Two follow up questions....
1) Is this (green/black wire) a switched source or you letting your detector auto-shutoff take care of the ON/OFF?
2) Is the 15" kit MXT-1015 ideal or would you go shorter (10") or longer (20") now that you've installed?

Worked out perfect with the 15” WireTap, my Model 3 BlendMount and my Uniden R7.1. The detector does automatically shutoff with the car
2. I tried the 10in and it was too short. 15in is perfect. The small excess can be pushed back into the mirror housing. It’s very clean looking.
The smallest pin in that bundle work but its very fragile and will bend the pins most likely so take your time. Confirmed on a friends X. It’s a PITA fyi so good luck lolHas anyone tried installing with the cheaper options available on amazon? such as Amazon.com
I've seen in videos that the pins need to be really small, but figured it was worth trying it with a sub $15 option before paying $50 for the brand name.
Don't skimp, everything's better with the WireTap branded kit, quality of the pins and cables.Has anyone tried installing with the cheaper options available on amazon? such as Amazon.com

You used this one?Wanted to let everyone know that the $12 option worked perfectly!
@Lester Green while I admit it doesn't make sense to skimp on things. All we're talking about in this instance is a wire carrying a small amount of voltage. I think $50 is a ridiculous price to ask for a foot of wire.
Can't beat Blendmount IMO. Again a premium product, but you get what you pay for.You used this one?
What does everyone use for a mount? I have a Valentine 1 gen 2 in my Y currently.
I have this mount. Doesn’t break the bank and is rock solid also! I have the gen 1 but this also works for gen 2.You used this one?

Thanks. I had my gen 1 for like 15+ years. Gen 2 is amazing and worth the price if you decide to upgrade. Way less false alerts and the range is vastly superior. It's also nice doing software updates via your phone.I have this mount. Doesn’t break the bank and is rock solid also! I have the gen 1 but this also works for gen 2.

I have 3 gen 1’s currently and they work perfect. We have no reason to upgrade at the moment. BUT, as soon as one fails…..it will be replaced with gen 2 for sure! Thanks.
