Auto park not triggering

I was wondering why auto park never really showed spaces, even when I was in car parks which should definitely have triggered the grey P. Manual says that is triggers for a space 9.5ft wide, when the average UK space is 7.8ft. That would explain it...

It can't see white lines, only park between two cars, and even then won't trigger if they're too close.

So its ideal situation is a nearly full car park where cars are widely spaced. Not many of them about really.

I've manged to usefully use it once since getting the car..

For perpendicular parking my S is quite relaible at finding spaces in supermerket car parks but always a lot further past the space than you think it'd need to go. For parallel parking on streets it's a lot fussier and weirdly tried to park me at 45degs last time.

Yeah it's so annoying. Triggers 100% of the time I go through a drive through. I just went downtown and it wouldn't parallel park anywhere
