I noticed that same price difference on an order I placed 10 days ago. I am kind of hoping they will price adjust. Are you planning to make a fuss about it?

Already emailed support. Took a couple days to get a response last time. If they don't get back to me I'll text the delivery advisor, visit the Tesla store. (Nearby)

$1500 is $1500... That pays for my electric install and HPWC.

It's one thing if you've already taken delivery. But I could cancel and re-order and still get it before 12/31.

So here's my updated saga with rough timeline:

Sep 24 TESLA: Great news, your car is available and we can schedule delivery! ME: Great, my wife's out of town this week and she's on the paperwork so how about Oct 8 since it's a holiday? Confirmed? Great.
Sep 24 later TESLA: Great news, you can pick your car up early on Sep 26! ME: Uh, no, wife is out of town this week so let's stick with Oct 8. Good? Good.
Sep 26 TESLA: Great news, you can pick your car up early on Sep 29! ME: Uh, no, wife is out of town this week so let's stick with Oct 8. Good? Good.
Sep 28 TESLA: We can get you in your car before Oct 8 if you'd like a sooner delivery? ME: Ah, okay, wife will be back and we could take off work on Oct 5. Good? Good. Reschedule some things, arrange time off at work...
Oct 4 TESLA: Yeah, that Oct 5 date isn't going to work. We don't have a car for you any longer, but there is something similar in NY that we could transfer to you. ME: Ok, not my first color choice, but it works. Let's do it. Oct 12? Sure, that works. And, by the way, my wife will be out of town Oct 21-Oct 27 again, so make sure that's in the notes. Reschedule some things, arrange time off at work...
Oct 11 TESLA: Yeah, that Oct 12 date isn't good. The car hasn't made its way from NY to MD yet. Would Oct 26 work? ME: Uh, what the heck did I tell you about my wife being out of town that week? What if I picked the car up in NY on Oct 13? Ok, cool that would work. What insurance do I need for that? Cool, just proof of existing insurance on a current vehicle.
Oct 12, Fri evening TESLA: Congrats on picking your car up tomorrow! Make sure you bring insurance showing the car/VIN has existing insurance coverage. ME: What the heck? I thought you said I only needed proof that I had insurance and what can I do about that Fri evening? TESLA: Sorry about that miscommunication. ME: Send the car to Rockville and I'll pick it up here.
Oct 17 TESLA: Great news, your car is in Rockville and we can schedule delivery for Oct 20! ME: Finally, I'll be there to pick it up. Have insurance agent add car with VIN to policy effective Oct 20.
Oct 18 early ME: So, stopping by Tesla Rockville since I happened to be in the area for a meeting and wanted to check out the car in advance. TESLA: Um, we can't find your car. It looks like it was shipped back to NY. ME: Of course it was.
Oct 18 late TESLA: Um, so we found your car and it's still here in Rockville and you can pick it up Oct 20. ME: Okay, yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.

I fully expect to hear that the car was accidentally launched into space Friday night and it's not in Rockville on Sat or it looks like it fell off the delivery truck.

Just saw that the "Make Payment" option opened up on my tesla account. The order agreement was not updated and still was showing the original one from when I configured. I called the IDA and he pinged the car and told me that the car is now in Baltimore and will reach Tysons Corner on 23rd. I could probably be talking delivery on 25th if there are no damages while in transit. My IDA also emailed me the updated MVPA which shows the VIN number assigned to me.

@desiGeek Looks like we have the exact same car!

Ours scheduled to arrive in Ohio on 10/22. Is your VIN in the 115k range also?

If you take Route 15 (Hutchinson...) Tesla Nav will likely select the Greenwich Supercharger, just as you enter Connecticut. Only 4 stalls, I've started out sharing once or twice.

If you take I-95, Tesal Nav will likely select the Darien Supercharger in the Connecticut Welcome Plaza.

If you have a fair amount of range left and decide to skip those options, you can use one near Hartford. Those are off the highway, but have more dining options. I suggest following Tesla Nav suggestions for your first trip. Once you know your typical burn rate and range, you'll be more comfortable with different options.

I've gone as far as the Supercharger near the I-84/Mass Pike junction before recharging. That one is in a mall parking lot, we always arrive too late to enjoy the amenities.

If you take I-84 from NY, I recommend the Danbury, CT Supercharger. Next to the highway in Danbury Fair Mall. Decent food court, and a carousel if you have children.

PlugShare shows lots of charging opportunities in the Boston area. If you don't have easy access to a dryer plug or similar at your sister's, I suggest knowing your options before you leave home. Many non-Tesla chargers require membership in a network.

Places I've charged:

- Charles Hotel parking garage in Harvard Square. Moderately expensive, free access to the charger. When I was there an electric Smart car was plugged in, didn't seem to be actively charging. Unplugged the car, plugged into mine. When I left, reconnected the cable to the Smart car.

- ChargePoint chargers in an office park a block or two from our hotel in Waltham. No cost, though ChargePoint registration and online check-in required. Checked into our hotel, carried our bags to our room. I drove the car to the charger, plugged in and walked back. By morning we had our target charge.

- ChargePoint charger on Brandeis campus. Had to pay, but wanted to top up for trip home.

- 120 Volt outlet at a friend's house in Newton. Got to 90% by the second day. We did burn some KWhours during a spirited demo ride on Route 128. Nearly the same route as when my friend let me drive his first BMW many years ago.

- Tesla Dedham when there were no options near our hotel a few exits up 128. Some interesting options nearby. Don't stray too far, you might get idle charges if your car stays connected too long after charge completes.
Wow, thanks for all of that detail!

I've been playing with the Tesla Trip Planner for months trying out my various trips. From my house to Boston it says stop for 20 mins at the Manchester, CT supercharger which looks like a nice location. From my house it's about 3 to 3.5 hrs so a good place for a rest break.

I generally stay off of I-95 north of NYC by taking either Route 15 or 684 to I-84. But I'll probably try out all the chargers on the various routes. I like driving.

I've had a PHEV since 2012 so I'm pretty good at managing the battery. It looks like I could leave my house with 80% charge and make it to Manchester with 10% in good weather. But I'm looking forward to trying out the various superchargers, so I'll make extra stops.

I have a ChargePoint account, but I don't think I'll need much around-town charging. My sister is in Roslindale, so I'll top off in Dedham.

Thanks again!

I can say this for sure -- there are some amazing deals on CPO S's right now - if you look in NY (side note: a super frustrating place to buy a CPO car btw because state laws apparently prevent NY residents from buying any Tesla outside the state lines, so you are restricted to getting cars physically in NY -- and Tesla will not transport them anymore),
To be clear about this, it is absolutely legal for NY residents to buy any cars, including Teslas, used or new, outside state lines. You just have to do the totally obnoxious thing of travelling in person to buy the car, paying sales tax in the state you're buying it in, and then registering it in NY yourself (and paying "use tax" when you do). And it has to be from a state where Tesla is actually allowed to have dealerships, of course.

Worst case you have to get a temporary address in the other state, register it there, and then reregister it in NY when you come back. (My parents used to buy cars this way when they spent summers in another state; registered the car in the state they were summering in and then reregistered when they drove back.)

And Tesla probably isn't competent enough to handle any of this. They should be but they probably aren't. They have never been good with paperwork.

Took delivery tonight Red/ Sport/ no EAP 117xxx with 10/18 build date

Paint and Fit and finish looks fantastic. Exceeds all expectations. I even got the model car with delivery!

Only issue I discovered after I got home was one of the trunk lights isn't working

Unfortunately, I get home and the charging cable isn't quite long enough from the outlet without pulling the cord tight. Looks like I'll need the extension solution for several hundred $'s:confused:

Glad I can finally get out of this forum. Good luck to the rest of you!

@a.void congrats! Which location did you take delivery at?

Update:

So I’ve been enjoying my 3. It’s an amazing machine that has its quirks for sure. Acceleration and handling are second to none. The experience is truly other-worldly. This car is in a class of its own.

Of course, I have to share some nitpicks too.

  1. My turn signal is unreliable. It works, but doesn’t function as it should. Activating the left signal almost always activates the long press (even on short holds) and often fails to turn off when completing a turn.
FYI, this is a known problem; there were apparently a defective batch of turn signal stalks steering column control modules. Talk to service and it'll be replaced under warranty (when they manage to get enough spare parts).

We stopped there on our way up last weekend. Lots of traffic and some detours made it the best option.

I suggest starting the trip with 90% charge. Never a problem to arrive at the SuperCharger with higher charge than planned. You can spend less time charging or skip to the next one. Less desperation if you end up detouring away from the planned charging stop, as we did.

The energy tracker chart is useful to compare your actual burn rate with projected. I typically cruise at 72-73 mph, arrive 10% higher than projected. This relieves my wife’s lingering range anxiety.

Arrived at Tesla Eden Prairie about 3:15 (for a 4 p.m. delivery appointment).

Was ushered to the car around 3:25 or so, walked around it, looked in it, did all the paperwork right there behind it. Could not find anything of consequence wrong with it, thought I had a scuff on the bumper, just adhesive, came right off, headliner had some black marks on it, cleaned right off. Thought I had a tear/chip in the tint on the back window, nope, some piece of white fluff.

Panel gaps are all true, charge door might be slightly out of alignment on the bottom, but just barely if anything. Did not get the car to show up in my phone app, Delivery Specialist thought she'd have to mark the car received and it could take a bit. It was charged about 85% when I got there, which was enough to have about 20 miles left straight through to home. I decided to stop at the Dows supercharger along I-35 just to try it out, plus I wanted something to eat, etc. Was in there for about 20 minutes, brought it up to 235 miles (from 94 or so).

Left turn signal seems to have the same issue as others are reporting I noticed on the way home, probably 80% of the time it stays on until cancelled. Right works correctly 100% of the time.

Build date on the door is 9/18, overall A++ happy, Tesla Eden Prairie staff are great, easily the best car delivery experience I've had.
