Banging/clunking sound when driving over mountains in cold weather

I was able to replicate it in Cali. So I presume its not a winter problem.
Hit the brakes a bit hard on downhill, and I hear a clunk from the rear.

Any update? My 2023 MYP does this a couple times when driving up the canyon to ski resort.

I've heard this sound recently on my 18 M3LR. I was sitting in my car at night parked, waiting for my family and I hear this clunk sound from the bottom somewhere. It was dark so I thought it could be an animal. I looked all under but nothing.
Then few days ago early morning I heard the sound again and I got out to see if I went over something. Nothing.
I thought I was losing it.

BTW, I'm in LA. It's not cold as other places but off late the temperature is getting low for LA. Don't know if that's the reason.
