Battery flat [ran battery down and not charging at supercharger]

Nice to be here with all you lovely peeps.
just got my Tesla model 3 last week. My wife ran out of the battery flat. By the time the recovery arrived the 12V battery also went flat. Towed finally to the Tesla supercharger. But battery is taking a looooong time to be charged! Had to abandon the car at the charging pot as it was too late in the night. Do anyone knows how much time it takes to recharge the battery? Thanks in advance.

I don't know in your case but here is my thought:

In cold weather, and since your battery is cold prior to the Supercharge (not pre-warmed as indicated by the car's screen), the initial start of the Supercharge might be very slow. Too slow that some thought the Supercharger is broken but it's not. So my guess it would not be less than 1 hour.

I wouldn't leave it there too long either, otherwise you might get hit with idle fees. They can be imposed in the US (Supercharger Idle Fee).

Thanks a lot Tam for prompt reply. It was taking more time than an hour. And still the screen was not lit to do any controls. And to make things worse, since it was still new my phone was not connected too.

Were you able to lock the car?

Yeah. After an hour screen was still off and not able to lock the car.
called Tesla in the morning and they looked at it and said it's still not charged and they are looking more in to it and letting me know. Thanks a lot

Good luck, sounds like it's not actually charging.

There is a chance you got very unlucky and picked a faulty super charger point. Or the root cause is something else.

Probably needed the 12V to be jumped to get the battery charging started.

just got a call from Tesla. The 12V battery went flat and needed replacement. All done now.

The tow truck should have jumped your battery (or maybe he did and it didn't work because of the ruined batt?). Might have saved it, or at least allowed you to charge.

Yeah true. But by the time he arrived it was totally flat.
