This is better as it provides an enduring community benefit.

Emissions standards are key. Stop Australia being the dumping ground for thirsty diesel pick up trucks.

There are not many gas powered cars. Phasing out diesel or petrol would be much more ambitious.

This is a lie unless you exclude Tesla from the conversation. We can all see where traditional auto manufacturers are failing economies of scale on tear downs, and they keep doing it. They will continue to ignore creating dedicated EV models that scale like the Tesla 3/Y platform at their own peril.

The problem with rebates is that manufacturers adjust their pricing based on them. Not just car manufacturers but people with associated services as well.

Yep, wasteful middle class welfare.

If they are going to spend taxpayer funds on EV transition, better to invest it in the infrastructure rollout.

And levy significant taxes on high emissions vehicles.
