Big announcement on EVs & emissions standards coming from federal government this Wednesday

Supposedly going to be pretty radical policy
Hopefully federal level rebates

no, not this. Rebates are bad “sugar hit” style policy.

Hopefully huge investments in charging infrastructure

This is better as it provides an enduring community benefit.

Emissions standards are key. Stop Australia being the dumping ground for thirsty diesel pick up trucks.

Watch this class of vehicle get a vague exemption for being "work" vehicles.

2) Economies of scale in BEVs yet to be achieved
This is a lie unless you exclude Tesla from the conversation. We can all see where traditional auto manufacturers are failing economies of scale on tear downs, and they keep doing it. They will continue to ignore creating dedicated EV models that scale like the Tesla 3/Y platform at their own peril.

Maybe, but it's also an inducement for those still sitting on the fence. In my eyes it's ludicrous it hasn't already been implemented already.

I agree entirely.

Once the report comes out then they have to formulate policy to put to parliament, long process.
