Bike Rack for Plaid

Can I install a bike rack receiver on my 2022 Plaid? All I want to do is carry a bike; not tow anything. Tesla tells me doing this will void the warranty. Is this true?

Has anyone installed a bike rack? If so, who installed it?

It says right on the parts list no VIN needed. Unfortunately still needs a VIN to put the order through.

Worth clarifying that it will void warranty to any issue related or caused by the modifications. Tesla can't claim your warranty is void on (for example) your wipers breaking due to a non-electric hitch receiver.

I have used the roof rack which isn't terrible but I would much prefer a hitch rack as well.

Lifting an e bike onto seasucker makes me nervous. I’ve used the roof rack for my MTB but definitely would prefer to use a hitch rack.

Yeah, it's heavy, but I pull the battery out, it becomes MUCH easier on the shoulders.

I installed a receiver hitch behind the rear bumper cover of my MS. Super clean installation. Cannot tell it is there until you slide in the 90° mount. Love it.

Yeah, I completely agree after using a SeaSuckers mount on my previous Model S. As great as it was, the two issues I ran into over time:

• I mistakingly left the battery on the bike one instance, and the added sway and stress of the ebike while on a dirt road caused the panoramic roof glass to crack

• it was a pain mounting my ebike on top of the car each time

Do you have a link of the unit you installed? Is it like the Model X hitch where it's totally invisible until you install a 90degree hitch in? That sounds amazing!

I second this! Used it on my AMG GT, C63, M2 and now my Model S. Been well over 150mph, driven from Toronto to Flordia and back. Never had an issue.

I had 2 bikes mounted on roof racks and in addition to the big efficiency loss, while mounting, one of the bikes (non e-bike) tipped to the side, the pedal hit my roof glass and cracked it. So I switched to hitch mounted.

Later, I was rear-ended while my hitch-mounted rack was on and it partially protected the car from more serious damage.
