I agree with you to an extent, however, most thought when the original Ford agreement was announced, that it meant the end of magic dock, yet magic dock deployment only seems to have increased.
CCS vehicles will still be made until the 2025 model year (except Stellantis and VW companies this far). CCS vehicles will still be on the road for another 10, 15, 20 years. Magic Dock is not a terrible investment considering the amount of vehicles that will continue to be on the road past 2025. Any CCS capable dispensers will also have a limited lifespan and will eventually get replaced anyways. So, a Supercharger that gets Magic-Docked in 2024 will still possibly be used by a CCS vehicle (assuming good working condition of both dispenser and vehicle) perhaps to 2040.

I would think they will continue to move forward with magic dock sites too. Especially if they can tap into Fed funding to make the swap in cables/hardware as needed. Even the L2 Hilton order of 20k universal wall chargers seems to imply they will continue with both CCS/J3400 for at least a while. Then maybe the next upgrade of chargers after that CCS1 will start to phase out ala CHAdeMO
