This is the downside of the Canadian model and the Canadian regulations...
The distance that you have to be from the car is really small compared to the US. I've tried it with a friend. I have to be very close to my Canadian Model 3; whereas on his US-spec Model 3, you can stand quite a bit away and it works.

For me, summon works, but it's definitely wonky and I often find myself waiting long enough that I just want to squeeze into the car and move it the old fashioned way.
