Center Screen Could move on Rail System???

See drawing... (bored at work) could this be solution with one screen that favors the driver when not using AP or driving alone, yet slides back to center of vehicle to be shared with all occupants? Perhaps this is reason for low continuous dash... All arguments so far have been based on a fixed display but he said spaceship like and SpaceX dragon capsule had displays that folded out of the way...

Interesting, but won't happen. It's too complicated. The 3 was designed to be easier & faster to manufacture. And it's not the first car to locate the "gauges" in the middle of the dashboard so that LHD and RHD versions of the vehicle require fewer differences.

Love the idea, but don't expect it will be implemented. It would, however, be cool to be able to add your other goodies (shelf, drink & cell phone holders, etc) where ever you desire. Have the rail extend all the way behind the steering wheel and you have a handy mount point for your Evannex add-on Instrument Console Display that you know they are already working on. :D

No need to duck for cover.

The Model 3 should be simpler. Whats simpler than 2 screens? Answer: 1 screen or 0 screens.

What's simpler than power windows - windows that don't roll down
What's simpler than electric adjustable seats - manual seats
What's simpler than cupholders - no cupholders

Go down this road far enough you'll be asking what's simpler than a Yugo - A Tesla!

I posted this idea in another thread, but will repeat it here... How about just add a small connector on the blank dash area where a more traditional display would be located, and let the 3rd party companies have at it? A miniature version of the OBDII port (power + isolated copy of the CAN bus) would be perfect to create a variety of snap-in displays, customized to whatever market they choose. Even make is slide sideways, if you want. Just a thought...
