I think what @cafz was referring to was how far on a single trip. Not single train service.

You can make any trip take forever if you use a trip planner that says to spend 4 hours sitting at Menangle Park Platform 2.

Scone to Goulburn and Scone to Bathurst can both be done for the princely sum of $16.72 on an Opal card, according to the TfNSW planner. Leaving the jewel of the upper Hunter bright and early at 6am, you'll get to Goulburn in 13 hours and 6 minutes, or Bathurst in a speedy 12 hours and 40 minutes.

Yeah all those places are also served by the ticketed country services, which are faster and have food available... but cost significantly more.

I’m so confused by this thread. I opened it up expecting a discussion on Evie charging. But the discussion is way off topic on trains.
