Another record warm day in EUROPE

In Austria🇦🇹 Monthly records beaten including 18.6C at Vienna

In France 🇫🇷up to 22.7C and >20C at 500m asl, 6 records beaten

In Bulgaria🇧🇬 December record at Viadin with 22.6C

In Germany 🇩🇪some records of warmest December night.

It looks like the Global Temperature Deviation of December 2023 will be not negligible.

What's NEXT?

There is one good thing with the all warming. More HVAC use (uses electricity during summer when solar is plentiful) and less furnace use (many use gas). Too bad it brings polar vortex sometimes, which is deadly for the poor (Texans who cannot afford Tesla Powerwall & V2G as the utility is not responsible to provide reliable power due to deregulation.)

For those who claim we can do nothing... this is what happens when the states are pushed to act. Limit on water use and suddenly the water level increases.

Las Vegas has been recycling water for decades, AZ and CA are following suit.

Sorry, but this has way more to do with last winters snow pack and the massive February rainfall Nevada had.... Conservation hasn't done sheet.

Sincerely,

- Upper Colorado River Basin Resident

Don't understand this post. Maybe that already this year we will overtake the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris and you say that there is something good with the warming?

Don't really understand.

Please let's not joke in this thread. The Climate Change issue is a serious threat for mankind.

Warmer means less energy/pollution to keep warm, esp during winter. Negative correlation.

In the summer, lots of energy from solar (just need 4 hr storage), no pollution.

WARMING ACCELERATING BEFORE 2023 EL NINO
Global temperature was increasing at an accelerating rate before the 2023 El Nino effect- shown by Spring (March-May) NASA GISS temperature record.

It looks like the Earth is victim of an accelerating Warming which is being emphasized by Super El Niño 2023. This is having an avalanche effect. I guess that SOON the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris will be overtaken.

The fact is that there are positive effects from warming in addition to the negative effects. One of the positive effects is that in NA and Europe (at least), there will be less carbon produced to heat homes. That isn't a negative correlation but it is a negative feedback.

Saying so doesn't have to be a joke. And it certainly doesn't negate that the overall effect of warming is catastrophic. But, one of the challenges is that there will be winners and losers. Russia for one is a potential winner - and it is certainly an argument that they can make internally. They would be wrong in the end but it is still an argument.

For the whole of humanity, warming is certainly bad. But that doesn't mean that this might be the December that I get closest to having solar cover my total use (still not close but still).

The other potential negative feedback will be people installing A/C in areas where they typically didn't have it and using that time to go ahead and make it a heat pump. Really easy to just mandate that only heat pumps are installed rather than A/C.

But I fully get that the loss in hydro may be way worse than the benefit in reduced heating. And the heat in the summer than reduces the efficiency of the solar panels. And changing wind patterns. The rest maybe all really bad and way overwhelm the building heating effect. The sad part is that the population notices the heating bill and not the rest.

Essentially certain that 2023 becomes the warmest year, and very likely to exceed 1.5 °C in our dataset.

As I said it's very likely that the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius of the Temperature Deviation set by the Agreement of Paris will be overtaken already this year 2023.

According to this article it will take at least 10 years to reach the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius of the Temperature Deviation set by the Agreement of Paris.
But now it looks like all previous forecast are wrong and the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius will be reached IMMEDIATELY!

It looks like the Climate Change issue is getting worse and we are reaching the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris.
So I wish to report this tweet by Elon to point out what has to be our attitude with respect to the Climate Crisis.

NEVER GIVE UP!

In our estimation, 51 countries set November 2023 average temperature records, including Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela.

Another reason why the Temperature Deviation of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris could be overtaken in 2023.

In fact, as I said previously, the Temperature Deviation is the result of a double integration, one of which over the whole surface of the Earth.

A climate protest group backed by a cadre of Hollywood film-makers is preparing to take action against “cowards” and “criminals” of all political stripes as the 2024 election approaches. Climate Defiance, which disrupted events featuring a string of Biden administration officials this year, and targeted Darren Woods, CEO of ExxonMobil, in December, will consider protesting at events staged by both Democrats and Republicans on the campaign trail after concluding that its “very disruptive” action was bearing fruit.

Climate Defiance has also interrupted two separate public appearances by the chair of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell. It is now recruiting for an organizing director to help coordinate “disruptive, nonviolent direct action to resist fossil fuel extraction”, according to a job advertisement.

While I like nonviolent protests I also wish to point out the fact that the Climate Change issue has no political color.
I wish to add that IMO it's wrong and not effective to criminalize anybody for the Climate crisis.
It's better to do efforts to work out the Climate Change issue rather than casting stones.

After promising early dumps of snow in some areas of Europe this autumn, the pattern of recent years resumed and rain and sleet took over. In the ski resorts of Morzine and Les Gets in the French Alps, the heavy rainfall meant that full opening of resorts was delayed until two days before Christmas, leaving the industry and the millions of tourists planning trips to stare at the sky in hope. But no amount of wishing and hoping will overcome what is an existential threat to skiing in the Alps, an industry worth $30bn (£23.8bn) that provides the most popular ski destination in the world.

The impact of artificial snow use for up to 100 consecutive days would raise water consumption by about 540m litres of water and pitch resorts against local communities because of competition over water use.

(I live in a winter ski resort area in California, elevation 2000m+. No significant snow this year.)

Another crazy warm day in EUROPE with temperatures which have nothing to do with winter: 22.4C in France,19C in Austria,24C on the Turkish Black Sea coast,18C in Moldova, widespread >20C in the Balkans including
another new December record in SERBIA with
21.3C Negotin

It looks like the Global Temperature Deviation of December 2023 will be another warmest record month and we will have 7 months in a row of warmest record months in 2023.

The CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is increasing. But it has to decrease not to increase if we want to work out the Climate Change issue.
Please let's take actions to decrease the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere since we are reaching the threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius set by the Agreement of Paris for the Temperature Deviation.
Stop burning stuff.
Plant trees. Stop eating meat.
