Agree with your points, especially wrt having remainder of the factory warranty and then extending by another 4yrs. I'm a searching fool as of late with local CL and surround areas as well. Apparently folks in the NW don't want to sell their P85/D much. :/

I did already reach out to one of your links (the white one w/ low miles). No response yet, but the car in as far away from me as possible (Florida), so that just adds all sorts of headaches for me, despite being a great car on paper. Pics on the add are when the car was on the showroom floor of what appears to be a Bentley/Aston dealership.

Be patient :) I'm in the same boat as you. I see a lot of P85D exorbitantly priced but there are good deals that come up. I'm so mad at myself for missing a P85D that came on the market for $54,500 with 36K miles. Unfortunately for me, someone else bought that car by the time I contacted the seller. Many P85Ds will be coming off lease in the coming months.

Hi all,

I was hoping for some advice as I'm a bit new to this. I helped my mother find a great P85 with 30k miles on it a year ago through Tesla CPO for $46k. Now I'm looking for something similar. The same CPO advisor I spoke to yesterday only came up with one P85+ for about 50,100 but I was not interested in that color scheme and specs.

A few posts here say there are P85s for mid 40s? Is that true? How can I find them?

Also, while I helped my mom last year I am still a newbie when it comes to Teslas. I do not want to exceed 50k to be honest, but are there other trims I should consider? My main desire is speed and ride/seat comfort, hence the P85. I do not think I would enjoy the benefits of the P85+ but I have never driven one.

I would definitely consider a P85D at 54k like the poster above, but I'm guessing that is a unicorn.

Finally, I always thought I should go the CPO route, but if you can extend to the same warranty then private route makes sense too?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I called the CPO adviser that did the deal for my mom and he didn't have much, and has not responded to my follow up email afterwards. Is there a better way to find a good CPO adviser or are there ones that this board recommends for example? If it helps, I'm in Los Angeles.

You can always call another store and speak with a different service advisor. It's a bit frustrating to figure out if a CPO car you are looking for is even available because they don't post their CPO inventory all online and when they do it is just parts of the inventory.

From what I can see and the fact that they don't seem to be posting cars that are being traded in, this is not the best time to buy a CPO car. I bet soon we will see a much larger CPO inventory available for sale as at some point they will need to sell all the cars that are being traded in and coming off lease.

Hunt is... conditionally over!
Ordered a '14 P85D CPO w/ AP1, SAS, UHFS, 19s. 32K miles. Don't care item, but cool - has jump seats. Had dropped (from orig listed price) $11K. Is a lease return (Carfax confirmed).
Unicorn surprise (or rare at least?) - has PX01 suspension according to the VIN Decoder! Not sure if this is true/reality of not, but can hope. Will have to check the shocks when I take delivery. Certainly wasn't listed officially, but from reading @HankLloydRight 's posts, it's never listed on the specs.

Haven't spoken to the Specialist by phone yet, so who knows what can happen, hence the "conditionally" statement.

Congrats! If it has the PX01 option code, there's a 99.99% change it has the + suspension.

If you don't need/want the jump seats, you can sell them.. they go for about $1500 around here. I sold mine from my P85+.

Welcome to the P85D+ club!

My jaw dropped when I saw PX01. A true bonus because I was ready to buy the car regardless.
Will see how long the novelty of the jump seats lasts. I did see that there’s good interest in them as retrofits.
Thanks for all the info and help. I’m def excited, yet apprehensive at the same time because this is the only time I’ve purchased used combined with being OCD when it comes to cars. :)
MS has always been on the list, but an F80 M3 was really the top contender... until I drove a friend’s new 100D four weeks ago. M3 went bye bye after that...

Did you get a gray one? I was looking at one that got that description and it sold yesterday :)

Yep, Midnight Silver Metallic. Deciding when to pull the trigger vs a) price and b) losing out to someone else is a fine line. Like I said before, I lost out on two prior cars so set a hard trigger point. Once it dipped below, I moved.
However, be patient. Still so many 85Ds avail and more than a few are dipping below $70K. Color and mileage (had to be below 40K) were top criteria for me, so my choices were fairly narrow.
Set email alerts and you’ll find a suitable car soon. There’s a reg P85 with 44K miles for $57.6K. I got an alert for a batch of P85Ds last night, with one listed at $97.6K!!!!

The unicorn has come into town! Will probably take delivery on Weds. Overall process has been great so far. Lots of communication with my pre-owned specialist at each step of the way.
When the car arrived in town on Friday, I got a call from my Delivery Advisor introducing himself and asking for a couple days to get the car in tip top shape. I asked him to snap a couple pics and he sent them 10mins later.

Really the only thing I’m pissed about right now is the HPWC. I ordered on Monday and have yet to receive a shipping notice. Also, no SC has them in stock (I even called Washington centers). So, I’m most likely going to have to charge painfully slow at home and then augment with public charging along with trying out the Super Charger that’s 40 miles away. Why their online ordering sucks along with SC’s not stocking them is beyond me.

It’s MINE!!!
Exterior of the car was pretty flawless for a CPO. They did a great job of paint correction. Only noticed a couple minor areas that I can fix myself.
Interior was better than expected for a 32K mile car. Most of the leather is in great condition. Driver’s seat shows the most wear, naturally. Only one flaw was a small gouge in the shoulder area of the driver’s seat. They declined to fix, which doesn’t bother me too much as the rest of the car is in fantastic shape. Will have a leather guy fix it no problem.
So glad I decided to forego the M3!!! :D

Thanks for sharing the wonderful news! Congratulations :)

It will be out day soon to pick up a P85D either CPO or private party...

Yep, I know you’ve been on the hunt as well. I’m sure something suitable and well-priced will come up soon. With the release of so many inventory cars, CPO prices will hopefully get back to sane levels vs the recent spate of $90-$100K listings.

I have a feeling they have stockpiled a massive CPO inventory to offer during the April/May time frame as new deliveries are pushed to June.
