You don't seem to care about an shaving 1s 0 to 60, so the 90D seems like the way to go (ie less miles, newer). Both cars will give you plenty of "passing power".
I believe they will not upgrade it as a CPO. So unless the original owner did before they traded it in, it's not possible. The upgrade is more than just a software upgrade and is only available to original owners.

The 90D has ~40 miles more range. Some owners can only charge the P85D to 245 miles after 2 years. I don't think I have ever needed to floor the accelerator for either the 90D or even my old 85, although I have done it for fun. The P85D acceleration in loaners I've had impresses people way more than the 90D.
While I would love to have the performance model, which I would probably take advantage of for 20 seconds a year to show off, the 90D makes more sense and it's newer.
