What are the differences for 2022 model Y? Has that been released or available?

Tesla doesn’t release new features in the typical model year form, like other car manufacturers. Example, the new HEPA filtration system that was on the S and X is now on the Y, with builds after mid June / early July. Those are still 2021 models. Everything else from what Ive seen, will carry over into 2022 models and nothing new per se for those models, yet.

I paid $5000 for my FSD. Reselling my FSD M3 will be easy to recoup that cost when it's currently $10000. Used Tesla market is killer when new supply is heavily constrained
User cars are new car prices for sure. Heck even 2018 cars are close to new car prices. I just feel bad for someone who spends 53k for a 2018 M3 and its 35k in 2 years when we can back to normal.

tesla doesn't do years like others. a car manufactured starting 2022 jan 1st will be call 2022 model y.

Elon doesn't even know when current orders will be built, god knows what he will put in 2022.

If youre saying Jan 1st on Models will 2022, and a Dec 31st built model will be a 2021, that’s incorrect. I’m driving a 12/3/20 built 2021 Model 3 as I type.

Just some FYI about the chip shortage:

“There’s also been some good news upstream in the semiconductor supply chain. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s CEO, C.C. Wei, said in April that he expects the semiconductor shortage for the company’s automotive customers, which are chipmakers such as NXP and Texas Instruments, to be greatly reduced by the third quarter. The automotive value chain for chips starts at a wafer firm like TSMC, which then sells to a chip firm such as NXP or Renesas, which then sells to a Tier 1 auto supplier such as Visteon or Lear, which then sells a completed module for part of a vehicle to the automaker. This chain takes about 26 weeks, according to Ford, which means that the extra supply TSMC said is coming in the third quarter probably will not reach automaker assembly plants until late 2021 or the first quarter of 2022. Wei said in July that TSMC had increased production of microcontroller units, a key part of automotive semiconductors, by about 30% year over year in the first half of 2021; by year-end, he expects about a 60% increase versus 2020, which he noted is about a 30% increase from 2018 levels. Renesas suffered a fire in March at a plant in Japan, which along with the winter storms in Texas worsened the chip shortage, but the company said in a June 25 press release that the affected production line had returned to full output on June 24. Things may look bad now, but we expect they will get better as 2021 progresses.”

Bought a Model 3 last October it was a 2021.

Speaking to a couple reps in Irivne and Newport I got some indication October and onwards would be 2022 models. announcement usually happens a month before on what changes may occur.

Hey guys delivery day update.

Finally picked up our Tesla Model Y7 white/black/tow/19inwheels after almost 4months wait! (116 days to be exact)

Delivery was scheduled for 12pm, but I had work commitments and only made it out there at 1pm! Given the traumatic purchase/wait process we took to get here, all I could think of on the way there is Tesla giving away our car. I definitely need therapy after this process.

We got there and to our surprise there was nothing contactless about the process at all. We were escorted inside, had to wait about 20mins for a delivery agent to connect with us. It didn’t help that it was around lunch I guess.

Nice delivery guy came out and told us the car had just been unloaded off the truck and the detailing team hadn’t got to it! We waited an extra 20-30mins, worked out as the baby needed to be fed.

They then pulled the car out front, where to my surprise they asked me to look at it first before doing any other paperwork, signing any agreements or making a payment (we hadn’t completed any steps on the site). I know some people reported being rushed and not being able to do a full walkthrough before taking delivery. I guess we lucked out and could have even installed accessories if we wanted to.

Build Quality was great. Nothing serious could be found, a couple of gaps towards the lower part of the bumper molding that looked wider than I expected, but the service tech came out and we compared them to other cars parked and they were within reason. There was a small scratch on a door handle which was polished by the team. I went through a checklist and happy to report all checked out. 235XXX VIN with bio mode, no PPF, No mudflaps.

After inspection we went back inside, and signed all the paperwork, got our keys, set up our app. it was very reminiscent of the dealer experience since there was a lot time spent with an agent and paperwork to complete (ps this is my first vehicle purchase in PA).

Drive home was great. Having driven the Kona EV to the delivery center I was quickly appreciative of how much roomier the model Y is. Got the car home to our city home, and now trying to reorganize the garage to make it fit better.

To be honest I haven’t had the time to explore the dashboard and other features yet, but with a storm fast approaching I am more concerned about it staying out of the inclement weather. Hopefully tomorrow will be better weather and I can put the accessories on.

thank you to all the other members who have stuck through this process with us. It has not been easy 116days! I hope all of you get to this point and move on to explore and share other experiences.

I can’t promise that I will stick on this thread, but I will sure be watching it and offering support when I can.

Great breakdown. Great to hear of the well built car.

Congratulations! Another April order got it... Light at the end of the tunnels for all April's?

Wow are a lot of people off loading their model 3s for Ys? There are so many used ones 200 miles from my LA location.
I am! Stealth 2019 Model 3 Performance > Model Y Performance on order. Paying $11,000 after taxes, delivery, etc out of pocket (or $320 a month for 36 months) for the upgrade due to the absolutely insane trade in offer for it ($55k).

So I previously asked this thread about inspection before accepting delivery on my inventory car as it was slightly older I was afraid it was a reject. 1 hour before my pickup time someone at Costa Mesa called and told me the 3rd row seat belt wasn’t working. sked if I could push back the pickup window an hour later to see if the service guys can fix it. If not he’s going to try to switch to another car with the same specs.

That answered my question about new cars showing up in inventory. At least in my case it was definitely a reject. Vin 2366xx

The wait continues. I’m glad I didn’t cancel my original order after I bought the inventory car.
As a follow up to this. I got a call an hour later and the Tesla guy said he was able to find a replacement, exact same specs in Costa Mesa, just needs to be washed. Much newer Vin 243xxx. I said absolutely and made the 12 o clock appointment. I wasn’t planning on keeping the original Vin because of safety I don’t want my daughter a seat with possible bad seat belts. Car seems great other than a few smudges that the super nice delivery lady helped with. I had to accept delivery on the app before they let me in but I checked the seat belts on all 7 seats before I signed anything. Everything else seems perfect as of now. Happy camper.

I feel like I may have stolen someone’s 7 seater that was supposed to be picked up this weekend.

Ok one positive sign for the east coast. Just called my location and got a guy on the line that looked me up and said from what he can see I’m tentatively matched for a car being produced on the 20th. Add 12-13 days for transport and we are looking at the first to second week of Sept. So this is the tail end of my current EDD. Wanted to share because to date all I’ve got from them in terms of feedback has been “what you see is what we see.”
Exactly what I was told when I called earlier this week.

I sold my Model 3 to Shift in June...the guy who picked up my car said that several others in my city were doing the same thing (selling 3 and ordering Y). I would've gone with the Y instead of the 3 back in 2019 if it existed..

Amazing that some of us are here waiting for over 3 months and they give you a VIN, you reject it, and they magically find you another one. Insanity!

I am super happy for you and very glad it worked out - not upset at you at all 😁 Just so hard to understand!

I got my VIN!!!! Edd shows October now but that should change right?? How soon after getting a VIN did it allow you guys to make the payment???
Congrats! Keep those May order VINs coming!!

I think it has been pretty common to see it switch to a random month for a short time before switching to a closer delivery window based on what others have reported.

Good News everyone! I don't have a VIN it's not that post yet, but I did call Vroom today about the car we sold them. I was on hold after needing to be transferred because the first person didn't know, and wouldn't you know what popped up. The email with the fedex tracking numbers for the two checks. Funny thing about this is that when I set everything up paperwork wise with them I set up Plaid so that they could quickly direct deposit it, and well apparently they disregarded that or just don't care and are mailing a check... lol never easy with them but now I don't have to worry about the car and I now have every penny of the downpayment necessary for the Tesla and then some for investment. So at least there was that apart from all of the fire and rage at Tesla. Also my husband has now convinced himself and I, along with the help of a few of you, that we're getting a Peloton. BUT, like I've said he has to wait until after we get the car cause he has to wait like me. lol 😝
