I too ordered way early. Then i was to take delivery in July, but declined the VIN as it was right after TV no radar announcement. So I waited until an EDD of November to push button again. To my surprise, I got an immediate delivery date for end of July (and it was a brand new build).

It just happened they planned to load a truck of blues for MtKisco, not all spoken for. Lucky me. So don’t cancel yet- “ya neva kno”
Okay, you're the second person that rejected a delivery, and got another VIN in relatively quick order. Sounds like it's semi-safe to say that if you reject a delivery you will NOT be in the back of a 3-month-long queue. But two datapoints isn't statistically significant...so anyone else want to test my batshit theory?

So quick update. I called the 888 number to ask for a delivery update and they said it will be delivered on Friday the 20th. I asked where the vehicle was and they said it was at the local delivery center. I was like, well I can go pick it up since its only 6 miles away from me and they said that the can is not ready as its going through an intensive quality control process. hmmmmmmmmm
I mildly chuckle whenever I hear the words "intensive quality control" or "detailing" used by a Tesla DS.

This is gonna sound devious, but what if Tesla is doing it on purpose so that people cancel their order, so that they can resell the car for more?
Hahaha @CSTARZZ man, this is the type of conspiracy theory I only expect you to come up with!

We can do some analysis on this by looking at the spreadsheet. If there is an inverse correlation between order prices and craziest EDD swings, then there might be something interesting going on there.

Hello All, I am new to this forum. Ordered MYLR -Blue / Black Interior , 19" / FSD on 8/5... Current EDD 11/6-11/26.
It's been interesting read. This forum has been very helpful to get an idea about what to expect throughout this whole process and I thank everyone for their contribution.
Can you tell me how I can add the signature (details of MY) to my posts?
When you're able, go here: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/account/signature

OK what is the stretching the dates on purpose, so that people order Performance a Model want to get it sooner.

Dates did change this afternoon to 9/2-9-14, so it pushed back, but came down to a range of 12 days instead of 13. Still expect to be pushed back past EOQ, and my initial estimated date was September. Not mad, but hella anxious and excited!

Look at the Bumper color vs rest of the car color. I did hear they had issues at one point of bumper color slightly off from the rest of the body.
While it is noticeable that the bumper color is different than body color, this is true to an extent on every car. Because of the base material difference (plastic vs steel/aluminum) they naturally reflect light differently, so they mix slightly different hues of paint to compensate for that. The difference in material and paint mix also causes the paint to age a little differently.

That being said, hopefully Tesla did not make the rookie mistake of using the SAME paint for both bumper and body, because, that would result in a highly noticeable color variations.

If there wasn't a parts shortage Tesla would deliver whatever you ordered pending manufacturing capacity. It's not the case currently. Tesla CANNOT DELIVER with current parts supply every car ordered in any reasonable time frame. What Tesla cannot make in volume they must make in higher margins with lower volume. Tesla as company will not deliver all your Long Range model Ys and miss profitability expectations for Q3.
