I think the point was the danger of driving to a service center with a known defect, a liability concern of its own.

apparently it's neither glued in nor has fasteners. so my guess would be very easy removable. now why you would have a trim piece on the accelerator which isn't properly secured right next to interior pieces where it can get stuck is beyond me.... zero testing?

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more recalls in the future; such is the nature of the car business. The salient point is not that there is a recall, but that this recall is easily resolvable and not a confounding safety issue.

Definitely a safety issue but if the accelerator gets stuck, and you even slightly press the brakes, the car will cut accelerator input and brake with a warning on screen that you pressed both pedals.

I think that if Tesla wants to go with that style of cover instead of the Rubber Style they should make the cover a little larger. Then crimp the edges over tight and Spot Weld the crimped edges to the back of the Pedal.

Nope, because the brake overrides the accelerator. To me, that owner literally failed to control his truck and naturally blamed the truck with the “brakes didn’t work” excuse.

You don’t realize that the whole of the accelerator pedal is plastic except for the thin stainless steel decorative cover.

It’s funny but Tesla says the same thing for the Model Y and probably the other models too.
