Weird question. whats up with the annual fee. If you don't pay it do they send you a new set of plates? seems pretty lame to charge annual for plates that are now registered..

Well, "special", but not personalized.

Ontario has "green" licence plates that have green lettering on a white background in place of the normal blue on white:

The advantage is that I can use the HOV / HOT lanes by myself with these plates and I don't need an ugly sticker on my car:
