And somehow burning the house is considered freedom of speech.
Blocking topics of discussion critical of the site is freedom of speech in your eyes? Remember Mr. Free Speech absolutist? "Nazis and racists, OK, but don't say meansies about me or Twitter!" When those in power block all criticism that's not "Free Speech" so stop pretending it is.

This is not criticism of Twitter. You can go bad mouth about Twitter and Elon all day long on Twitter.

What is happening there is campaigning and actioning and building tools to make Twitter less effective by blocking Blue checks. That is not free speech, that is action detrimental to the success of Twitter.

Come on. Don’t be like Media trying to Gaslight any steps taken by Twitter for its effective functioning as somehow against free speech.

What tools are they building? Anyone may block anyone they want on Twitter.

It's only free speech if you do exactly as Elon wants? You free speech absolutists have a weird, ever-changing definition of free speech. Odd.

Absolutely hilarious reasoning.

Yes, that is free speech. Users have to choose to #BlockTheBlue. It doesn't happen automatically. Although the campaign we really need isn't #BlockTheBlue, it's #DeleteTwitter.

I guess $8 isn’t mush of a deterrent.

[Mayor] Lightfoot, CDOT, IDOT targeted by fake Twitter accounts claiming DuSable Lake Shore Dr will close

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the Chicago Dept. of Transportation and the Illinois Dept. of Transportation were all targeted by fake Twitter accounts falsely announcing the permanent closure of DuSable Lake Shore Drive on May 1.

The false information was tweeted early Friday morning by an account posing as the Chicago Dept. of Transportation, alongside a photo of a nearly vehicle-free DLSD, using the Twitter handle @WeAreCDOT. The city department's official handle is @ChicagoDOT.

BlockTheBlue is a voluntary choice but such freedom is not allowed on private lands.

It's also against the terms of service. What it's doing is using the platform itself to get other users to restrict the utility of the platform for people who choose pay the subscription.

Yes, free speech absolutist is bollocks. The talk about the verified being elitist was also bollocks and an excuse to switch to subs.

At least the people who switched to Mastodon were being constructive in supporting an alternative.

The restrictions are voluntary choices. All they're doing is leading by example. No one forces anyone else to block users with blue checkmarks. They can block anyone they want and by whatever criteria they choose to. Someone can block all gamers. Someone can block all ICE drivers, or someone can block all people who's name starts with C. Or anyone who's been caught spreading misinformation. Just because someone decides to block someone else based upon their buying a subscription doesn't make it suddenly blasphemous.

It's taking a stand and demonstrating they are against how the blue checkmarks have moved away from actual verification. Plus a form of trolling, to be sure, for some of those who are doing it. Surely Musk would not be against trolling seeing as how often he does it?

Plus, blocking is a native feature in Twitter. So using it can't be against the terms of service if Twitter provides it. It's not as if Twitter said "you can block anyone except subscribers" and then someone hacked the interface to allow them to block subscribers.
