I stand corrected. The Model S Order and Delivery Spreadsheet shows 3 vehicles confirmed 9/14/16 or later that were delivered by 9/30.

I appreciate the data point. And I do remember this clearly from the time... I was paying attention as I had a car on order then.

There are also a few September to September cars in the corresponding Model X delivery thread. Of the early October AP1 cars, the Model S P100D thread has an example. I was checking these on mobile, so no quick references on hand.

But it doesn't matter anyway, tesla knew the cars were about to be obsolete tech so flogged them off.

It matters to the buyers and it matters to whether or not Tesla's stated discount policy (or lack of discounts policy) is truthful. Tesla's claim is everyone pays the same.

Well, no, they don't if a customer orderer pays full price and another guy at the same time can get the exact same car with inventory discount, because the latter represents soon-to-be-obsolete inventory (or whatever other reason there may be for the discount) for Tesla - especially when Tesla builds inventory for this purpose, inventory is not just leftovers or somesuch anomaly. (Also because there are so few custom options, likelihood of getting exactly the same car from inventory is fairly high.)

So, this is a scenario where indeed deals can be found within Tesla, that can get you into a car at a better price than someone else. To make matters "worse", the deals are not posted always online, so you have to find a sales specialist willing to find it for you.

Mind you, there would be nothing particularly wrong with this, if Tesla did not insist there are no deals. Why not just say, sometimes we have deals - because clearly they do.

I thought their sales reps or whatever new wave title they have didn't get paid commission. If so why would he have bothered with the email?

As for amped realtor it's tough. He maybe shouldn't have published the guys name...but maybe he did so to help the guy get sales. All around shitty situation.

If he was wrongly terminated (had manager approval as claimed) he'll have a good chance of reprisal. If there's more to the story of the firing this will fade.

No, that is NOT what enraged Elon. A year ago you got that discount because the car had AP1 hardware and Tesla was about to introduce AP2, which made the AP1 car less valuable.

What enraged Elon was some sales people throwing in options for free because a customer was negotiating for a better deal. That is against Tesla's policy and is what Elon was speaking to in the email to employees.

The real reason that Elon was unhappy ... the newly announced AP2 was not up to par vs. AP1
