Enhanced Autopilot - Extra Costs

I got my vin on October 6th for MX. The email said it'd be delivered late Dec-to early Jan. Then my delivery specialist emailed me last week to say it would be early Jan (even though 'my Tesla' still showing possibly Dec) however when I popped into the local branch to get a charge point they were very excited by my vin & said it should be one of the first to be delivered to store.

I've half upgraded the autopilot as those features should be in place by Dec & an extra £5k+ For the whole kit & self driving caboodle is a lot of money when there's no date in sight for when that'll be legally possible - if ever! I'm planning on having this car for a long time so paying for a further upgrade if & when that comes to fruition made the most sense to me.

I received the official email from tesla this week about the upgrade. I have been thinking about this and decided like others to buy the enhanced and hold off on the full autonomy till it's been approved. Yes we will pay a little more but buying a feature you can't use for perhaps a couple of years seems strange. Also as a company purchase I might want to buy another tesla before the rebate runs out in 2021 so rather buy what I can use now. Don't get me wrong if was available now I would buy it I can't wait for the time when I can tell the car where I want to go and then just go back to sleep heaven
Checking my tesla I have a new number starting 5YJ instead of the number starting RN does that mean I now have a vin number?

I'd really like mine before Xmas but i'm not confident. Mainly because the delivery expert said Jan (despite the MyTesla estimate being possible Dec) but also, did you see that thread about looking at the source code of MyTesla before VINs were issued? I got my husband to look mine up & it said Feb :(

Not only have they got to be shipped here from California but also I guess they need enough to send over in one go which means some people's cars could be ready & waiting for a few weeks. I don't know, maybe someone who's been through the process with the S will know for definite how it works

I spoke to my DS today he confirmed I did in fact have a vin now and my X is scheduled to go into production on the 5th December. He expect delivery first week in February. He did comment I had been lucky as I was in the early batches. I think they are only expecting a couple deliveries before New Years.

Ah ok, so if my delivery specialist is saying Jan then she must know when it's due to go into production. I'd really have liked it before the new year, offered to drive my dad home after Xmas so he didn't have to get the train & then realised it'a going to be a squashed journey in between the kids car seats, The X will solve that!

Got my MX vin in November, but just got the message in my tesla.com dashboard said my car is scheduled for production BUT delivery date is late May to early June > <
This is not acceptable
have you been advised when it goes into production?, i have seen a few people saying that they have been advised 26th December, including myself (i ordered car on 1st Nov)..

Lowey007, how do you find out when it goes into production?

T28Yau -my hand over guy advised me.. its about ll the info i have had as there is a problem on my tesla financials (despite having email confirming all ok) which results in only 4/5 tasks complete so i see nothing on my tesla of note... real bummer when im an excited little kid waiting for his new toy..
