Evie @ Cabramatta Hungry Jacks! Nice! Finally a DC charger in Sydney that’s south of the latte line!

Possible other Hungry Jack's locations (just because we've previously seen patterns) -
Blacktown, Guildford, Bass Hill, St.Peters, Auburn

Looking at the handle colours on the Plugshare photos seems both Cabramatta units are CCS2/CHAdeMO

Hungry Jack’s on electric car road with Evie Networks deal

There are 440 Hungry Jack’s outlets in Australia. Hungry Jack’s chief executive Chris Green said the partnership with Evie Networks would help expand the national footprint of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. He also emphasised the importance of convenience, with drivers able to recharge while ordering a meal.

Paywall to that article :(

Having chargers at shops and fast food joints makes a lot more sense than doing it at servos, so kudos to Evie to work that out.

On that point, Ampol are being ‘brave’. I mean, what is remotely pleasant about recharging at a servo? Unless is it a highway service centre, and you can go somewhere close by to have a sit-down meal or do something else useful, they are about the worst places imaginable.

I forever rave about how Ampol/Evie Seven Hills has a squeegee, the air compressor, bins etc right next to the charger. Why not pump up your tyres while you charge? And they have a Hungry Jacks (hello) and a GyG within spitting distance, plus a Maccas a few doors away. Not exactly an endorsement, but worthwhile.

Now, if Hungry Jacks installed an air compressor and a squeegee...

Local DC chargers (>=50kW) are:
  • Canberra Airport Vibe Hotel (Evie) (often ICEd)
  • Majura Park Supercharger
  • Melbourne Building (Knowles Place West car park) (Evie) (daytime parking fees also apply)
  • Greenway (Jemena Depot) (Evie)
Nearby DC chargers (all of which are >=50kW) include:
  • Batemans Bay (Chargefox & NRMA)
  • Cooma (Chargefox & Supercharger)
  • Gundagai (Chargefox & Supercharger)
  • Jugiong (NRMA)
  • Young (NRMA)
  • Cowra (NRMA)
  • Yass (NRMA)
  • Goulburn (Chargefox & Supercharger)
  • Mittagong (NRMA) (massively overused, often queueing)
  • Picton (NRMA) (right next to the RV dump point - weekend ruined!)
Sydney has 8 DC chargers (>=50kW) (soon to be 10 - Cabramatta and Kirrawee).

At the risk of bragging, of those 26 sites, I've charged at 23 of them.

For the purpose of this exercise, 25kW sites (Including Chargefox Fyshwick & all Jolt sites in Sydney) don't count. Fyshwick is handy when you're ubering, nobody wants a trip, and you're hoping for a long run getting someone home from Capital Brewing Company next door. Uber in Canberra has absurd waits between rides. Jolt at Mona Vale is only good for Ubering if you want to take a 2-3 hour nap at 4am, even though it's signposted with a 1 hour parking limit. But you're never going to get serious charge using a 25kW site that charges at 15-18kW with a 1 hour parking limit.

New Plugshare entry for Schofield's Village in NW Sydney that lists two Evie fast chargers.

Matches up with the top middle left on the Arena map that Chuq posted upthread.
It looks like it's moved a little bit - from Stanhope Gardens Shopping Centre - about 5km away. Probably for the better as there are no other chargers planned that far out.

But it does make sense - there was always some flexibility in the locations, apart from Ampol, none of them were going to have locations locked in for 50 or 100 sites nationwide.
