So I ordered my MX 5/9 and was guaranteed june but delivery was pushed back to july. they said first week but that probably means end of month. VIN 108xxx.

I got a call from a tesla project specialist today, says they have an exact inventory match on a car someone ordered but did not take delivery of. VIN is 101xxx. says it has <50 miles and is new, not a loaner. same price no discount.

he said the car is in california (where i am) and delivery could take place within 2 weeks. don't even know why it would take that long.

would there be any downside to this? seems like i could take delivery sooner of same car. any differences in vin 101xxx to 108xxx? from what i can tell from the delivery sheet the 101xxx's rolled off the line in may. he said the car has MCU2, not sure about graphite trim.

would my salesperson still get credit? would referral get transferred?

thanks for input.

edit: and did anyone on this board recently refuse delivery of a blue/white 75D in california that was messed up? :D

yeah my only concern would be why it was not delivered, was there something wrong with the car or was it just another issue. anyway i'm gonna call my OA and the sales rep today, get a bit more information, probably go with the inventory. wife wants to go on a road trip over july 4th wknd.

lame. custom order pushed back a few more weeks (of course). just went with inventory. delivery scheduled next wednesday. we'll see how this goes.
If the inventory is exactly what you want, or something you're willing to accept, then that seems reasonable. Waiting is definitely hard. My car hasn't even entered production yet and I already just can't wait to get it. I have another month at least to go :(

Good luck!

It looks all the inventory cars are staged at Lathrop. The specs which I looking to custom order is also avail as an inventory car.

Tesla is not giving price adjustment for very low mileage car inventory car.

Surprisingly on the same VIN/car , two different OA from two different store gave the same financing issue as why that custom car went into as an inventory car. I suspect it was a reject, but i have no way to proof. Also hear that interest rate is going up next month. So it could be advantageous to purchase the inventory car now.

This same exact thing happened to me (inventory with different wheels and EAP), and it's also a 101XXX VIN. I declined and opted to wait for mine. Got my VIN yesterday, which is 112XXX, so I'm hopeful that the longer wait will pay off with a more stable vehicle :)
