Congrats on your 3, and welcome to TMC
@Carl_P
For logging, hands down TeslaFi gives best ROI for ease of use and effective telemetry collection and visualization. Used a few systems over the years, created own logging scripts via RESTful APIs, etc. Now just TeslaFi for zero-thought logging.
Allen’s RemoteS is great, though same as all phone apps they need to continue running and you need to think about using them.
I like TM-spy as connected iOS app, though requires you to plug into CAN bus and, I don’t believe has support for Model 3 - though it’d been a while.
I haven’t checked out Stats yet.
Again, I prefer cloud hosted for ease of use. Also, having something running “continuously” I love; it gives me ability to track overnight charge efficiency, in/out temperatures, supercharging rates, geo-locations, long term battery degradation, etc. I often use to answer questions using general drive data here.
I haven’t checked out TeslaSpy, though might over the holidays when I out some trips on the S. Seems prettier than TeslaFi, though may be too much info.
You can export all TeslaFi data via csv files if you prefer your own graphing / tracking vs web generated makes this very flexible.
You can also supply your own Tesla-generated token vs supplying your Tesla username/password combo
Used TeslaFi since before it was a charge-for service. The creator is still a Tesla owner and very responsive to feedback and requests.
There was initial vampire drain issues with all loggers with Model 3 due to lack of energy savings mode yet always being connected, meaning the car never managed to get to deeper sleep states. Some was addressed with fw updates early this year and, as previously mentioned, the creator/owner of TeslaFi modified some of the heuristics and parameters you can set to allow the 3 to go to sleep more reliably when in an idle state. I’ve included settings I use in attached image below.
Only “issue” for me is having to run one account per Tesla. Definitely a first world problem
Any questions don’t hesitate to ask. I have no affiliation to TeslaFi, though am a passionate fan for the above reasons. If you want extended trial you can use my TeslaFi code,
mikebur2018... the receiver gets 5$, so not really for the money, more to give extended trial... anywho, I’ll still answer questions either way
