The app can currently access files anywhere that's visible to the regular Android file system, but that's the limit for now. I will have to look into how to pull files from a network share.
Hopefully this will help.
How to access share folder in windows through android and read files
I have note 8 and it works great. Are you using an OTG cable with the USB stick? I used a USB 3 OTG hub and it works greatGot it...but it won't play the videos. Using Note 8 with the newest OS. What did I do wrong? Thanks.
Does it support USB sticks with wifi, so you don't have to unplug them from the car?
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-Connect-Wireless-Stick/dp/B00ZCFYF2W?th=1
Thanks buddhra. I already have a fast USB stick that works with my Android phone. I was hoping this would be a more elegant solution where I wouldn't have to remove the stick from the car. I'll stick with what I've got.
I remember reading that there is a WiFi usb stick that you don't have to remove, but you do have to flip a switch to turn on WiFi. So you will still have to open the center console to reach for it.
Yeah, that adapter should work. Definitely a weird issue that I haven't had reported to me before. Seeing that "charging" message is strange, but my Pixel 3a says the same thing if I actually go to the USB settings while my adapter is plugged in - it just doesn't show it as a notification.
I am exploring an alternative way of accessing the files on the drive (probably the same way that the file explorer accesses them) so I may have a fix coming soon as long as that coding goes smoothly.
I bought a USB-A to USB C adaptor to be able to pull my usb stick out of the tesla and plug it into my pixel 3 so I can view with TeslaCam/Sentry reviewer. It sounded perfect and is a great idea which I don't mind paying for. But when I insert the usb stick into my phone (with the adaptor) and didn't recognize it and wanted me to reformat. The stick was originally formatted on a mac, but I was able to view recordings on my mac. Do I need to format the usb stick with a windows machine? Maybe this is a limitation of android and/or pixel 3?
The Pixel 3 came with a free OTG adapter so you really don't have to buy another one. But the one you bought should work too. You formatted it FAT32 right and it was working on the car?
