Green traffic light chime now available without FSD

When you're stopped at a red light you can put your guard down.

Translation: Look over at the girl in the car next to you



Two things about the chime

(1) after the download, you have to actually switch the feature on

(2) it's just a chime, like so many others, and considering it's probably just an MP3 file or similar, they could have an actual voice saying "Green"

In fact to make it really work, they could have a recording of your wife saying it . . .

If you need a red light or stop sign chime, you shouldn't be driving.

Tell that to the driver that ran a red light and ran into me in an intersection. There are thousands of traffic accidents that occur each year because folks run red lights. If Tesla had a red light safety feature (just like they do for forward collision avoidance) a lot of accidents would be prevented. It’s foolish to say just because you don’t need the feature it isn’t needed.

In fairness, the post wasn't that it wasn't "needed" but that those people shouldn't be driving

Yes, and people who need forward collision avoidance shouldn’t be driving either… the fact is folks that people are distracted and make mistakes. Forward collision avoidance has been proven to reduce collisions and save lives.

It’s very reasonable to assume that red light avoidance systems would similarly save lives. Tesla should make this feature standard on all vehicles regardless of FSD.

It will also (weakly) warn you if a car is in your blind spot when your blinker is on.

This should be standard on every Tesla. Someone told me that it's not in Tesla's due to patent issues, but apparently not since you have it in AP.

I vote for a bit louder chime. Maybe a Volume High/Low setting? It's hell getting old

The problem is that at some point, there'll be so many warnings and chimes and dings and bings that they'll just get confusing - or more likely ignored

Tesla should just install a wife in each vehicle

I hear they're very good at driver assistance . . .
