I can't believe that no one offers decent mud flaps!!

I think the pickup should have one. Other Teslas are not designed to work in muds.

Does it not rain or snow where you live? They really keep the water and splashed road grit off the sides of the car.

Xpel paint protection film
Protects paint and doesn't require ugly looking mud flaps

I have ppf on the lower rockers, it works great. The amount of rocks and sand the PS4S tires kick up made me want to put these on too. The side of the car does stay quite a bit cleaner after driving through the rain.

They are really subtly and tucked in. You can really mount them however suits your needs and preference.

if you think mudflaps are bad, wait until you see what it looks like after road grit removes the shonky paintjob from the bottom sills and rear bumper.

Paint chips, it's what it does.
How much of an energy consumption increase from aerodynamic handicaps (aka mudflaps) are you willing to pay to protect the paint?

why wouldn't a clear wrap be a better solution?

It would be definitely better, but also WAY more expensive.
Quality PPF will run you ~$500/panel. Figure $2.5+K for the nose and the rockers, or ~$5K for the whole car.

I can repaint the nose for way less than $2K, so I roll bra-less.
