International Centre delivery experiences

I took delivery yesterday at the International Centre. I arrived about an hour early due to the train/bus schedules which they didn't seem at all fussed about. They had cookies and coffee with the presentation starting about 10 minutes after I arrived. It was actually really informative and helpful with understanding things BUT every time there was someone that had to be called he kept saying "Welcome to your Electro-Chariot" in various forms and permutations. Every time. Felt bad for the guy when everyone winced when they heard it.

Anyhow, I got called about 20 minutes after arrival to see the car, get my photo taken and then he took me to do the paperwork. He said it can take a long time. I knew what to expect and had everything ready and done in under 5 minutes. Back to the presentation where I linked my app to the car and could see it had been taken outside for delivery. 5 minutes later a woman showed up, called my name and we walked out. Super quick demo - I mean way too quick, then off she shuffled. My last Lexus was a good hour walking through everything and even my lowly Subaru was over 30 minutes and neither is as complex as a Tesla from the screen perspective. She took off and I removed my hub caps and installed the kit on the 18" rims. Found something on the paint and Neil popped over to clean off some left over glue from the wrap as it turned out. He was super great and really felt like he was helping deliver an expensive car. I went back in to wash my hands and there were really great sandwiches in the waiting area. It's pretty nicely done now in the delivery centre.

I was gone by 11:45 am for an 11:30 am appointment (after arriving an hour early) and more than half that time was me fiddling with the car and changing out the hubcaps.

The one thing I have seen mentioned in other threads was about losing connectivity to the app last evening due to my account not being updated as "delivered", but I can't seem to find that info. Should I email or contact the delivery centre or specialist or will it just fix itself? :)

Also, thanks to the board for all the help with various questions and learning about the vehicle prior to delivery!

No need to worry, mine disappeared too for about 12 hours but I was told it can be for as many as 48 hours.

I'll preface this with I have heard back from Tesla and they say their engineering team will look further into it......and when I went for a spin around the block after my Opti-Coat treatment this evening, my cruise became active at 30 kph and I set at whatever my current speed was (about 42 kph) and it worked fine. Will it work tomorrow? Who knows.

The issue is this. I start the car, I put it in gear, I pull out into an urban street setting, I accelerate towards 60 kph and as soon as I hit 30 kph, (the stipulated minimum speed for cruise control) the little circle under my speed readout goes live with a grey "30" in it (for half a second) and then the "30" turns into a "100".

So,,if I tap the cruise stalk down once (at my current speed of, say, 55 kph), the cruise system will zoom to 100 kph unless I use the right thumb wheel to spin the set speed down from 100 (in 5 kph increments) to around the speed I want......

yep. I just did that today. I was on the gardiner in traffic going 50 km/h. hit the stalk down once and it tried to accelerate to 100 even though the car in front of me was only 4 cars ahead....

I picked up my m3 this morning. I was surprised to see it so empty. Apparently they were only delivering 30 cars today. The rest of the day was reserved for "VIP's". So, there were no issues. I was in and out in 45 mins give or take.

checked in. grabbed a coffee, walked around my car, got some pictures, signed the docs, listened in on a tutorial class, went out to the car, and drove away.

There was some sticky tape on the rear lights, some paint scuffs, some scratches in the rear window, and some portruding edges by the front drivers side headlight, and the charging port door. I'll have to book some time at the Lawrence service centre to get it fixed.

EDIT: I also had the die cast model 3 in my car, and a relatively fully charged battery. about 430km worth.

I did about 240 kms today, through the county (of Prince Edward county) and MOST times the number in the small circle was my speed....but about 20% of the time that "prelude to cruise control set speed based on some data base" was at 100 or once even 117 (I think the equivalent of 75 mph (?).......whatever.

Anyhow, I always cross check what number is in that little circle before I tap the cruise to ensure there is no suprises.

Most of my drive I did without cruise and less than 2% was with the autosteer.....and (because we were on back roads I assume) the warning would flash that autos is temporarily unavailable OR only available up to 70 kph.

But all this is first world minutia.

I topped up to 98% today and we let her rip:

243 kms and still had 53% in the hopper........

You named your car Guido lol? That's the best part of your post.

I picked up my white 3 this Saturday. Drove back to Ottawa the next day. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm extremely happy with the car. Just some quick tips/observations:
  • My appointment was at 9am, and someone came to get me around 9:20am. I'd say total time spent (including me inspecting the car) was around 1.5 hours.
  • Bank draft is the only method of payment accepted. My Tesla sales agent from California incorrectly stated that a direct EFT transfer could be done as well. But I confirmed with them at the international centre and they said this is not possible in Canada.
  • Everyone was super nice and great to deal with. Good atmosphere there all around. Be patient, friendly, and just ask them if you aren't getting something you need. They will accomodate you best they can.
  • I had a chance to inspect the car outside after all the paperwork. I was accompanied by a Tesla delivery person that quickly gave me a run down of the car and controls, and then waited around while I did a quick inspection and answered any questions I had. He had some incorrect info (most notably that EAP, which I didn't purchase, would be enable as trial for 1 month but this wasn't the case) but most likely he just repeating what he had been told.
  • My recommendation is to do a quick sanity check of your car for anything majorly wrong, but ultimately trust that they have already done the same. More minor issues most likely will not be dealt with at the international centre anyway, so document and inform a service centre instead. Be OK with a few imperfections, the car is amazing despite those.
  • Overall, I got the sense that they are really trying their best considering the challenging situation. It seems like they got a lot of the kinks in the process worked out by now. If you're expecting 1-on-1 attention as if you were buying a Model S/X a few years ago you won't get that, but there was still good attention and courtesy.

Hope those of you still to do delivery have a similarly good experience!

Yes, I'd like to hear from you if a different bill shows up on your credit card statement.

It is supposed to be 40 cents a minute for product delivered above 60 kW.
I have the same issue. When i charged, i saw $0.80 but when I log onto the Tesla account online, the invoice says $13 (with break down of $0.20 < 60 kW and $0.40 > 60 kW. Not sure whey the two prices show up different, but i'm assuming you have to pay what's on the invoice.

Does anybody know if this gets billed directly to your credit card or do you have to pay the invoice?

thanks!

You have to pay what’s on the bill. Looks like 0.8 is testing authorization. Did you order anything from your Tesla account using the credit card on file besides ordering the car?

I will be getting a white one next week .. can you post a couple pics of your 'mismatch' .. Not that VIN range seems to matter with this issue, but what VIN range is yours?

I'll post some this weekend, VIN is 29xxx

Dropped it off this morning at Mississauga service for the bumper and other issues. This was best pic I could get:

Annoyingly when I got there they told me I have to contact and deal with the body shop myself since they are too busy now. Not great service here so far. Also couldn't give me a Tesla loaner and had to wait 25 min for Enterprise to show up.

That is pretty flat compared to the other panels .. its somewhat amazing this still hasn't been addressed or isn't an issue on a consistent basis. Two cars coming off the line back to back could have problems or not when it comes to this mismatch - fingers crossed for my pickup later today.

VIN 30,3XX Close enough for me. Looks perfect in some light and very slightly different in others. Same as our Ford Escape. This has been out there for years on white cars ever since the plastic bumpers required a flex paint additive to prevent cracking.

I realize it's a tough problem for the industry, but comparing the "off-ness" with my dad's white S it wasn't nearly as obvious.

If it bothered me I would definitely have it made right as you are doing. Yours looks much more off than mine. Please let us know how it works out. Curious as to whether they repaint or replace the bumper with a pre-painted one as was rumoured.
