Last I heard, the referral Powerwalls include the Gateway.I feel like the tough thing to get is the Gateway. My understanding is there were no "referral gateways", so you're missing one of the key pieces of tech even if you found a referral reward Powerwall.
The permit process for other forms of battery storage just got more complicated with the 2020 NEC rules. Since the Powerwall is UL certified those dynamics may change. Warranty issues aside there maybe hacks to operate them standalone.Do these ever come up for sale. If so, what processes does one have to do to install? Hire tesla? Permits?
Let me know what you hear back. The referral ones I've seen have included a gateway. I also have existing Powerwalls and don't need a gateway to add another one.. I'm trying to get Tesla to quote me a Powerwall addition without the gateway. Waiting for engineering to get back.
Check out the Tesla Parts for Sale forum. They show up from time to time.Do these ever come up for sale. If so, what processes does one have to do to install? Hire tesla? Permits?
Etc?
I remember those Peterson Dean commericals saying they would always be thereI was also looking for Powerwalls. It looks like Petersen Dean went under. There was an auction with 3 Powerwalls, I thought if I could by them for 4K then I would be in good shape. Some one bought them for 6k each. For me it was not a good deal since the new ones are 7k. Possibly it was a good purchase for an installer.
Not anymore.....I remember those Peterson Dean commericals saying they would always be there
Still getting paperwork from their bankruptcy. Looks like they have liquidated the business and all their pending installation like ours were sold to someone else. I got a 10-page list of everyone on the pending list so there are a lot of people. I can't wait to be contacted by whoever bought the list and asked if you want to continue. I will just point them to the SolarRoof and say "no way".Not anymore.....
They were big installers once. I remember their sales pitch to me in the past.Still getting paperwork from their bankruptcy. So glad we dodged the bullet of going with P-D.
Me too am interested. Will it need more permitting? No sneaking it in?The referral ones I've seen have included a gateway.
