Is the 4 week delivery time real time or Elon time?

What color and wheel combo did you do? It's clear Aeros are getting VINs slower. Anyone know how/where the aero wheels are manufactured? I know Tesla designed them, but wondering where they are made. Perhaps there is a delay getting them from a supplier?

I still think we need someone with strong logistics knowledge to track what Tesla is importing from overseas. All that stuff is public info.

I ordered the 18 Aero which apparently was the wrong choice. Just read another fellow SATX member ordered 2/14 with 19s and he got his VIN. I ordered 1/27.

Just called Tesla to see what's going on since I configured 1/27 and it's almost 5 weeks without a VIN. They said they can give me an update on why I don't have my Vin after I receive my VIN. Ummm What? I told them that when I configured it said 4 week delivery. The guy on the phone said it's more like a 3-6 week delivery from order. I told them I'm already at 5 weeks and unless the car is delivered in the next week it'll miss that timeframe too. Just felt like I was talking to a guy just reading off a script. So frustrating

That’s pretty ridiculous.

That is indeed frustrating. I hope they surprise you by delivering your car very, very soon. (The car is worth waiting for, though.) Good luck!

BTW, your username, "flyinghawaiian" is very close to "Flyin' Hawaiian," which is the name of the best zipline on Maui. But your user profile says you're in Texas.

You want acceleration, see if you can get a ride in (or better yet, test drive) a P100D Model S. I drove a P85D Model S and even that thing felt like double the acceleration of my Roadster (though technically it was less than double).

But, yes, my new Model 3 looks very nice and clean. I'll report later today on my first drive. All I did last night after it got here was put it in the garage and try to figure out how to operate it. The damn thing is more computer than car.
Had to delay the pickup till tomorrow... will provide a report as soon as I have something interesting to say... From your description it sounds like Nirvana- of course I’m the kind of guy who would like to see partial differential equations scrolling across the screen.

I’ve had the exact same conversation with them twice. The delivery specialist knows nothing. I think that’s part of the problem. I’ve asked if changing colors or wheels would get my car faster. He said no.

Indeed it’s suoer frustrating. You beat me by a week, as I’m at 32 days with no VIN waiting for black with aeros. Especially frustrating when they do give a delivery timeframe and might miss it, given we’re trying to coordinate financing and others are getting their cars 2-3 weeks after config. Grrrr

Feels. Saw on a Facebook group someone ordered last night and got a VIN today. I'm at 20 days. White with Aero.

Model 3 first impressions

(Red, LR, sport wheels, premium upgrade, enhanced AP)

Service center process - totally painless: no delays, no issues.

Phone as a key- easy setup: so far, flawless.

Only got to drive it a few miles but here’s what I noticed:

  • Snappy accelerator response (no opportunity to really test, yet).
  • Wide open feel, especially in back seat
  • Tight turning radius
  • Strong regeneration (seemed stronger than my MS)
  • The charger port door closes by itself
