Yes, this is exactly what I was talking about. I'm sure I'll get the hang of "feathering" soon enough.

When I talk to folks at the track, I tell them to think of it like the brake and accelerator pedals are shifted roughly 1/3rd. So if you want steady-state / coast, you need near a 1/3rd pedal. I'm not sure what the actual percentage is, but conceptually I've found this an easy way to describe the experience.
