Remember you don’t gain more miles. It’s just an estimate number. The car adjust as you drive. That’s why I use % as that the only accurate number.

While it is an estimate, my problem with % is, how do you correlate that to miles, you probably have to do that in your head? If you have 20% left, how far do you think you can go, my guess is your head is doing the math... at that point might as well let the car estimate for you and give yourself some buffer. Or do you know if I wanted to go from point A to point B that is 23% of the battery? If you can do that in your head then you have some special powers :) But my guess is there is still some part of you doing some conversion to miles in there ;)

I go to the energy section and see what my avg projected is based on my driving conditions.

I have a custom set of 20in MW03 wheels that should be here in the next couple of weeks. I will be requesting that my service center update the wheel size to reflect the correct estimated range.

In reality, you should just go by %. The epa estimated range is overrated and not many people can realistically hit that. My real world driving is 250 miles on a full charge, not even close to 316 miles.

I was going to say this initially, but I wouldn't be surprised if the trip planning with the supercharger stops would be affected by the wheel size set in the vehicle. It would be annoying always being ~8% off on it's planning, etc. The trip graph should be accurate still since that's based off your current wh/mi...

That’s is not true because the 19in Gemini and 20in Induction wheels have an estimated range of 315 miles on the performance model. Your service center should be able to change the wheel size so that your Model Y shows the correct estimated range.
I use % so not concerned about the estimate miles. If I want to see how many I have left will look at energy. I only drive a few hundred miles a month.

The car off the line has improved 100% with the 19 MW.

Service changed wheels to Inductions, and mentioned the odometer is tweaked from the Ubers to Inductions due to the staggered setup. I guess it is only a fraction of a mile off at 60 miles, but there still is a slight difference. Range is updated as well.

I find this conversation utterly bizzarre...the tire diameter is very similar, no? Hence the differences are negligible, right?!?! Am I crazy?

That is what I thought. I ended up talking with a specialist with a CA area code when I bugged the service tech about messing with the odometer. I guess because of the staggered setup that the back tires are heavier which makes the diameter on the back tires slightly shorter than the front tires. This has to be adjusted for, but I guess the difference is very small. I dunno.

I wouldn’t trust a manufacturer that lists a wheel 3.5 lbs under weight

Oh wow. So does Martian need to revise the weights of all diameters and widths? The 3.5lb difference on the 19" is significant imo.
They should revise the weight on their site ASAP if they’ve know they’re off. I’m actually time stamping watching it to see when they do it. If they decide not to....you know what kind of company they are.

it's revised now
Lol. Still KNOWINGLY short changing .5-1 lbs to make a sale. I haven’t even discussed the model 3 versions being off too.

And to make matters worse...there’s ONLY 1 style of wheel in TWO widths per size except 18s. How hard is it to display real weight? So in total there’s (1) 18s, (2) 19s, (2) 20s...so only 5 weights to disclose. Business principles.

I was set to get Martians for my MY when I decide to take delivery, and I've touted Martian wheels in other threads due to them being forged, their weight and their price. There isn't a wheel offering the 3 attributes that can beat Martian. Looks obviously are subjective.

I'll have to reconsider and shop what's available when I finally decide to take delivery. A 3lb difference is unforgivable. I have a hard time trying to understand how they could get the weights wrong.

See post #505. There’s a lot of things that aren’t lining up which makes me wonder what kind of company they are.

I am really curious how these aftermarket wheels do efficiency wise. Some reports show the 21" wheels while heavy are extremely efficient (Aero Dynamic) making them just as good as 19" or 20" aftermarket wheels that have poor aero. Its made me double think if I will replace them or not, if I do, they would have to be some efficient design, like the 20" factory wheels maybe (or 3rd party equivalent)

I have been very pleased with my efficiency. I have 3765 miles on my PUP and my wh/mi average 258 (21” wheels)
