I am not keen in adding aftermarket camera, so is it possible for Tesla to allow user to record what the MobilEye camera sees into a thumb drive via USB? Could this become a new feature in an update?

The camera output is usually fed right into the EyeQ3 system of Mobileye. Mobileye allows several camera sources to be used by the new EyeQ3 processor. How those signals are routed, I guess, is up to the OEM (Tesla). If Tesla has made provisions for the camera signals to be piped off to some other processor, them maybe camera recording would be possible. Judging from what we know so far, that Tesla only uses 1 camera, rather than multiple cameras, it doesn’t seem that they have planned for any future proofing.
