Just received an update from Octopus.

They've now re-done all the figures on their recent orders, and it looks like they will be able to offer anyone who ordered a P- in black a free upgrade to the P+ in black. I'm not sure about other models or combinations, as my original order was for the P-.

Upsides to this are that you don't have to re-do any paperwork. No new quotes, no credit check and no waiting for paperwork to come through. They will also be able to simply modify your existing order with Tesla, so hopefully no loss of place in the queue and no need to resubmit referral codes.

Downside is that you can't change to the white paint, if that's what you prefer. Clearly, if you're happy to go through the whole process again, then this is an option, but I think I'm going to stick with the black paint and take the P+ upgrade.

I accept this will mean some delay, as I've currently got a VIN assigned. Worth it to get the car I actually wanted, but couldn't afford with the original pricing.

That’s good to hear. I only sent my contract in the day before the price changes and I don’t think Octopus had placed my order with Tesla. I ordered the P-, so presumably I’ll now get the full fat P. I’d still actually rather have the P- (at a reduced price) because of the 18” wheels, but I guess that won’t be an option.

Originally planning to use a car loan - but still no VIN or text, so looking at the options as no rush.

Octopus look good, will also request from Pink - any others?

Am also waiting for Tesla to rearrange on my work company car scheme list. They keep taking them all down, as the prices fluctuate...

Just had updated pricing from Octopus EV:

Performance in white with black interior.
2 years / 3 months up / 8,000 miles pa
Up front = £1,158.75 ex vat
23 monthly = £386.25 ex vat

They have just come back and said they made a mistake. Price was for Standard model.

Updated prices are:

On 5000 miles the monthly would be £464.57 ex vat with excess mileage of 21.5ppm
On 7500 miles the monthly would be £495.74 ex vat with excess mileage of 21.5ppm

That is quite a change from the 4 or 5p they were charging before!

are you going to contact tesla directly and request the change ? I assume a new Order Number

excess mileage is now 21.5pmm from the previous 4.5pm for first 10k after 5000 miles :(

so previous for 5k , P-

5k pa
initial rental 6 mths = £2,873.28
478.88 x 23 = £11,014.24

Total cost = 13,887.52

Revised pricing now for P+ over 5k pa

initial rental : 557.48 x 6 = £3,373.70
557.48 x 23 = 12,882.04

Total cost = £16,195.74

difference now to upgrade from p- to p+ = £2,307.92

Yep - 3 months up front
For comparison purposes, that translates into (for 7,500 miles):

6 x 23 - £3200 inc. VAT (£2666 ex. VAT) deposit and 23 x £533.35 (£444.46 ex. VAT)
9 x 23 - £4350 inc. VAT (£3625 ex. VAT) deposit and 23 x £483.35 (£402.79 ex. VAT)

It's the excess mileage charge which really kills it, though. That's a hell of an increase.

Are those figures correct?
I've extrapolated from awharton's quote to get 6x23 (7,500 miles) figures, so you're getting a bum deal there.

based on what awharton wrote as he quote 5kpa
the initial figure is just with vat added x 23

464.57 + 20% = 557.48
557.48 x 6 = £3,344.904
557.48 x 23 = £12,822.04

total = £16,166.94

yes not great now :(

You can't quite work it like that, as the total lease cost won't go up if you change from 3 months deposit to 6.
So, his cost with 3 months deposit is:
3 x £557.48 (£1627.44) + 23 x £557.48 (£12822.04) = £14494.48

When you increase the deposit, the monthly will go down, as the total paid remains the same (assuming no change in mileage).
So, adjusting for 6 months, gives us approx. £3000 deposit + 23 x £499.76 = £14494.48

Oh wow quite a change. So the 4.44p per extra mile up to 10k is now gone?
Looks that way. Brings them into line with most of the other lease companies, from what I can see.
It's a shame, but I guess it's the funders decision (SG Fleet), not Octopus.

I suspect SG Fleet are about to take a bath on the residuals for those customers who stick with their P- orders. The car has been devalued by about £5K thanks to the Tesla price changes. I believe they will be encouraging any P- customers to upgrade to the P+, in order to limit the financial impact of this.
