My understanding is it’s somewhere in between - when they’ve put it on a transporter on its way to delivery center (and matched it to your order)

I'm now back to 6-10 weeks from order date again...Seems like everyone from illinois and ohio has gotten their VINs. Haven't seen anyone els from Michigan waiting on here.

Same here! The waiting sucks! I’m almost getting tired of checking the account page. We are close to the Fremont factory is the exact reason why we are last. We are all just hours away from it.This is going to be the best car I’ve ever had, but man this waiting game is the worst. Such a horrible feeling to refresh that page everyday as soon as I wake up. And why are we Californians last??? We are so close to Freemont
I understand you oh so well. Ordered my M3P on Dec 30th 2020. Been long 3 months. Woke up this morning to a VIN and already scheduled my delivery on Mar 20 at 11am. Hang in there. Your VIN is coming.

The wait sucks but was expected. What is worse is the devil on the shoulder that says "you still have time to get the performance model instead". The devil and my wallet don't get along very well. They have issues.

Honestly, the performance is not worth all that money. I think LR is just as good for a better price. You made the right choice!

I’m in the same boat. EDD got changed from 3/15-3/27 to 3/16-3/27 for me. Slightly different from you but pretty much the same
Happy for them but I’ll admit it hurts to see the top part of the spreadsheet fill out so quickly compared to other parts of the spreadsheet hahaAnd then we here about people who ordered last Thursday and got a Vin within 24 hours

Mine moved back one day on the front end - 3/17 to 3/26. Good that the end date stayed the same.
I agree. VINs I think sometime this week and 5-7 days to delivery.
I've seen a bunch of new M3s around the last few days without plates. All dark interior/non white interior.

Does VIN get assigned mid-day, or as part of the overnight updates to the account page? Just trying to figure out if there is any point to check my account during the day. One disappointment per day is enough at this point.
I think it can be anytime. I’ve seen people get their VIN in the middle
of the day. Mine showed up overnight. Saw it this morning.

And funny to think how I was worried I was ordering too late (2/5) and the march slots were gonna be gone

I would think really soon. Existing inventory for LR is now showing up within 200 miles of my zip code on Tesla's site. Cleveland, Indy, and even saw Detroit.
I've been watching the VINs roll in this week and it seems like the whole East to West thing seems to be true.
