Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I made the mistake of applying for financing out of fear of not having a complete enough profile and then I came across the videos and fine print about the 30-60- day expiry. My SA said my delivery will take place end of March so hopefully that means before that 60th day. Fingers crossed! I’m glad you received your vin. :)
Sure, but verify what your bank’s expiration period actually is? My CU loan has a 90-day window.

I’m in California and there have been few deliveries out this way. Idk where they’re shipped from out your way, but am confused about why someone who ordered after me would take delivery before me? Anyone know how that works? I thought since I’m somewhat closer to a manufacturing facility it may be faster to fulfill our orders… idk like I said, confused
Model 3s sold in he US are made in Fremont, CA. There have been many recent deliveries in CA, some at service centers, some home delivery, and quite a few that picked up at the Fremont Delivery Center.

Why some people get orders before others is the source of 90% of the confusion and why this whole thread exists.

For a while, Tesla was filling orders in sort of a reverse geographical order. Furthest away shipped first. That way vehicles being delivered would arrive in the same fiscal quarter that they were made. That makes for very uneven cash flow, so Elon said they will try and stop doing it that way. Sometimes though, a car gets rejected or an order gets cancelled after the car is already well on the way, and it gets reassigned to someone in the same area with a later order date for the same configuration.

I ordered mine 2/11 with original EDD of April. I filled out all paperwork and was already approved for financing (mistake) with third party. The next day my EDD changed to May 19 - June 16. About a week later it changed again to May 3 - May 31. Yesterday, I decided to change my payment method to cash because my tasks weren't showing as complete. Now they are. My EDD hasn't changed, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I'm hoping the completed profile will help. I also feel that my EDD is kinda pushed back compared to others. But that might be because of the factory not pushing any cars the 1st 3 weeks of April. I would be happy with an EDD sometime in April, but I'll take whatever I can get.
Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but why aren’t they shipping cars the first 3 weeks of April? I’m assuming something with start of the quarter?

OD was 2/26

M3LR/White/Black Interior/ 18” Aero/No FSD
I certainly hope you make it before end of quarter but I don't know what your current estimate is. We can probably assume that whatever length of time between VIN to delivery for me will be similar for you because of time in transit. We should find out soon. Its ridiculous in NY that we have to drive 6 hours to pick up a car because of lobbyists.

I hope so too. Current estimate is May 13-June 10 so we’ll see if the EDD updates anytime soon.

Yeah I’m not thrilled that I have to pick it up. It’s about 5 hours from where I am. Not the worst drive but not the best either. If flights are cheap at the time, I might just fly into JFK, rent something to get me to Mt Kisco them drive home from there.

From what I've heard on this thread is that they're transitioning the model y production to the Austin factory from Fremont, and that's expected to take 3 weeks. So the model 3 production will be on pause for that period.

Here’s something I was unaware of. I’m in Ohio so this directly impacts me, but I assume other states do something similar. Because I will no longer be paying the state “gas tax” that is built into the pump price, I now get hit with increased annual registration fees. $200/year for a plug-in electric. I guess it makes sense since I still use the pot-hole filled roads and highways around here, but I had not heard much talk about this.
WA, CO and a few other states are doing the same

So Graduation Day for me last Thursday. End up accepting the car but lots of little issues. Spent the weekend detailing and putting on a ceramic coat so got to seeing a lot I probably wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.
Supposedly they’re going to fix it all but other than the hood and the taillight I might just fix it myself. I’ve been reading about the Tesla “fixes” and after seeing the lumped on touch up paint on my brand new car (any newbie could have done better) I’m inclined to believe that my car is safer out of their hands.
I know some on this thread will disagree so for those of you who demand it pristine (nothing wrong with that, I wanted that) I suggest you go over it like you were detailing it. I think they deliver out in the cold on purpose to force you to want to be done. Even after an hour i didn’t catch everything there at the SC.

But it’s not all bad. After a weekend of hard work I’ve fully detailed it and done my best to fix their shenanigans. I’ve given it the ceramic and hydrophobic coatings treatment and it looks great. Thanks for the shared misery for the 81 days (but who’s counting :)) it took to get it. Good luck and hope you get yours soon!

Looks like this one took quite a beating. Glad you were able to fix most of it. I wonder if all the scuffs happened in transit or during production. Mine is traveling coast to coast as well.

Thanks. Me too. My guess is bumper scratches and driver door leading edge scrape was in transit. The crappy touch up paint was definitely factory as I found it done in places the SC wouldn’t think/care to look. It’s like they caught the paint scrapes in QA/QC and the shoddy paint slopping was their idea of a fix. It all came right back off though. Pretty much fell off.

Nobody knows, but I've suggested that the Fremont Model 3 and Model Y lines will go offline during that period to switch/integrate the Model Y capacity there to Model 3, as Giga Texas will be taking over Model Y production, and has started to ramp up. That's totally a theory, as Tesla has not made any announcements about the seeming gap in delivery dates that appears to be there.

There's a real chance that people with EDD in that period simply aren't on this forum, and I'm completely wrong.
